This could be big news. Hard to read this as anything other than papal support for greater freedom for celebration of the TLM, though it’s frustratingly short on details.

Pope Leo XIV in a message to the French Bishops, tells them to find generous solutions to include those attached to the Traditional Latin Mass: “Dear brothers, you finally intend to address the delicate subject of the Liturgy, to which the Holy Father is particularly attentive, in the context of the growth of communities bound to the Vetus Ordo. It is troubling that a painful wound concerning the celebration of Mass, the very sacrament of unity, continues to open in the Church. To heal it, a new way of looking at one another, with a greater understanding of each other's sensitivities, is certainly necessary; a way of looking that can allow brothers, enriched by their diversity, to welcome one another in charity and the unity of faith. May the Holy Spirit suggest to you concrete solutions that will allow for the generous inclusion of those sincerely attached to the Vetus Ordo, in accordance with the guidelines established by the Second Vatican Council regarding the Liturgy.”

This letter to the French bishops that Catholic Twitter is all ablaze about this morning... Nothing will come of it... it's useless Pope Leo is mush We may never see a true Lion for the Faith in the Chair of Peter ever again... just more popes who feel the need to appease Muslims and Marxists, all to the disadvantage of his fellow Catholics I'm so over it

He had someone else write the letter He's tolerant of everything... Muslims, German bishops, Bishop Martin... all sorts of garbage he puts up with So to add the TLM to the list of things he tolerates is no real compliment to the distinctiveness of the TLM He's a disappointment... no resolve or lion-like strength in the defense of the Church Appeasement to Muslims and Protestants seems far more important to him than the unchanging preservation of the Catholic Faith Sad to say it, but it's likely very true

Bishop Athanasius Schneider issues stark warning: "They are not refugees, they are invaders who want to Islamize Europe. They want to destroy historical culture in Europe.”
