It appears Trump just agreed to give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz, a history-changing win for Iran. The level of incompetence is both stunning and heartbreaking. What on earth is happening?

Devastating takedown of pro-JCPOA talking points
Richard Goldberg@rich_goldberg

Claim: “Under that agreement, Iran surrendered 97% of its enriched uranium, retaining a small amount of low-enriched material;” Facts: Under the agreement, international policy opposing enrichment was reversed; a permanent enrichment capacity was enshrined; and a pathway to advanced centrifuge production and all-the-way-to-weapons-grade uranium enrichment was legalized. Claim: “D/Ced 13k advanced centerfuges and a heavy-water reactor;” Facts: JCPOA legalized advanced centrifuge R&D. Also, while Arak was disabled, an official later revealed the regime hid spare tubes to later restore it. Claim: “and submitted to intrusive inspections.” Facts: No access to military sites or SPND sites. No verification of section T to prevent weaponization activity. Claim: “They're program was enfeebled and frozen.” Facts: Their program was on a legalized pathway to industrial size at any level of enrichment with the most advanced centrifuges. Claim: “When Trump ripped up the agreement, they resumed enriching uranium to much closer to weapon grade.” Facts: The regime did not exceed JCPOA limits until more than a year after Trump exited and at that point enrichment was kept to low levels. Higher levels of enrichment did not begin until the Biden transition and then presidency in 2021. Claim: “Maybe a little forethought would have been a good thing???” Facts: Maybe the JCPOA was a disaster???

@RichLowry @guypbenson The ability of Iran, under the JCPOA, to eventually have nuclear weapon grade uranium at a point in the not too distant future was heavily reported at the time. So, clearly facts mean nothing to the claimant.

Dawn Staley is not here to play nice or keep things close. The Gamecocks are turning the National Championship into a defensive masterclass. History shows that when South Carolina decides to dictate the tempo they rarely lose. UCLA is finding out exactly why this dynasty is built on disruption and grit. Betting against a focused Dawn Staley is a fast way to lose money in Phoenix.

There was an incredibly telling exchange between Chief Justice John Roberts and the solicitor general. “We’re in a new world,” Sauer said, because “eight billion people are one plane ride away from having a child who is a U.S. citizen.” Chief Justice Roberts’s retort was perfect — “Well, it’s a new world,” he said, but “it’s the same constitution.” In that one moment you saw the contrast between the MAGA legal philosophy and the legal philosophy of most of the justices. MAGA wants specific results, the justices interpret texts. And when MAGA’s argument contradicts the constitutional text, it’s almost always going to lose — as it has lost time and again before this court. nytimes.com/2026/04/03/opi…

@aj_inapi Great summary. It practically guaranteed that Iran would get the bomb. The regime cannot be trusted. Recent events demonstrate they only understand force.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ ABOUT THE OBAMA IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL AND WHY TRUMP ENDED IT, READ THIS. The Obama-era Iran nuclear deal (2015) was called the JCPOA. The basic idea was simple: Iran slows down its nuclear program → Sanctions get lifted → Iran’s economy recovers. HIGH POINTS OF THE OBAMA DEAL: • Iran reduced centrifuges from about 19,000 down to roughly 5,000–6,000 for 10 years • Uranium enrichment capped at 3.67% (weapons grade is around 90%) • Enriched uranium stockpile reduced by about 98% (down to 300 kg) for 15 years • Plutonium path to a bomb blocked by redesigning a reactor • International Atomic Energy Agency inspections allowed • Nuclear breakout time extended from a few months to about 1 year WHAT IRAN GOT: • Sanctions lifted (US, EU, UN nuclear sanctions) • Access to frozen assets (estimates around $100+ billion over time) • Ability to sell oil again • Reconnected to global trade and banking So essentially: Iran got economic relief. The world got temporary nuclear limits. KEY CRITICISMS OF THE DEAL: • Restrictions expired after 10–15 years (sunset clauses) • Didn’t cover ballistic missiles • Didn’t stop funding of proxy groups • Iran kept nuclear knowledge and infrastructure • Sanctions money could fund regional influence WHY TRUMP PULLED OUT IN 2018: Trump called it a bad deal because it delayed a nuclear weapon but didn’t permanently stop one. So he started the “Maximum Pressure” campaign: • Reimposed oil sanctions • Banking sanctions • Shipping sanctions • Tried to drive Iran oil exports toward zero • Designated Revolutionary Guard as terrorist organization • Goal was to force a bigger, tougher deal WHAT HAPPENED AFTER: • Iran’s economy was hit hard • High inflation and currency collapse • Iran later enriched uranium up to around 60% • Uranium stockpile increased again • Breakout time dropped again • Regional tensions increased • No new deal was reached NOW FAST FORWARD TO TODAY AND THE BIG QUESTION: Why are the US and Israel now carrying out military action in Iran? Because this didn’t happen overnight. For over a decade there were multiple attempts to stop Iran’s nuclear program: • Diplomacy • The 2015 nuclear deal • Trump sanctions and maximum pressure • More negotiations in the 2020s • Attempts at a new deal • Failed negotiations again Meanwhile: • Uranium enrichment increased again • Missile programs continued • Proxy conflicts continued • Regional attacks increased • Nuclear breakout time kept shrinking At some point the calculation changed from diplomacy to prevention. The decision became this: Either Iran eventually becomes a nuclear weapons state… Or military action is used to stop the program before that happens. So this situation didn’t appear out of nowhere. It’s the result of: Diplomacy → Deals → Sanctions → Pressure → Negotiations → Failed Deals → Escalation. That’s how we got here.

Jackson is the only Justice on the Supreme Court to pick a jury and actually try a case in front of a jury as 1st chair from beginning to end. The rest are products of old money and boujie law firms/elite universities that never actually got their legal hands dirty and tried a case. Worst SCOTUS of all time.

🚨 BREAKING: The Supreme Court just ruled 8-1 in Chiles v. Salazar that Colorado's law banning "conversation therapy" for sexual orientation or gender identity is unconstitutional. Jackson was the lone dissent.
