@greendragonhq It's not really a "new wave", it's been promised before, he's just lucky enough to find a group of dupes willing to go for it. Keep voting for "free" stuff. I admit it sounds good, but passing on a problem to the next generation isn't long term thinking.

@SinaiLawFirm 1 - The point of his program is to essentially steal the property. So no, your clients won't get FMV 2 - Possible but only if they were real owners, the problem with his plan is he believes the govt can run it better than indiv, so you'll end up with a slum but a good feeling

1 - at least a third of my clients would sell to the government immediately if they got FMV for the property 2 - turning tenants into property owners on a mass scale will usher in a multi-generational GOP majority in any state that will institute a program like that
Brecca Stoll@breccastoll

NOW: Mamdani says his admin will transfer ownership from bad landlords to non-profits. “For buildings that have suffered chronic neglect, we will work to transfer ownership to responsible stewards. Stewards that include community land trusts, non-profits, or even the tenants themselves.”

@em_Lazzy For anyone who's understood money, rent control, rent stabilization and over the top regulation are the causes of people not being able to afford homes in NYC.

@Timcast Nationalized housing. What could be better, I mean every time I walk into a govt building I am impressed with the efficiency, cost effectiveness and just absolute marvel it is, just think public bathrooms, they're the best.

@ShoahUkraine Just had to kill all the Ukranian farmers and execute the intellectuals and then kidnap Nazi scientists. (we can ignore that it all collapsed in the 80's and still call it "successful")

@micah_erfan And all it cost was billions from the state and just some deferred pensions and a raiding of a rainy day fund. So that bill will never come due.

@omgsidewalks Just b/c it didn't have a name, someone traded for something and both benefited. Capitalism isn't a rule it's a theory that simply accepts how humans interact and explains it. So Capitalism has been around since the first human traded with another human.

@sjs856 Well, if you understood how money works you'll see that "government subsidies" are the govt taking money from us, then giving it to whomever they please. It's still the politicians stealing money, you just don't mind where it goes.

@DemzDeliver Amazon paid the fines for the third party delivery service. Amazon will now fine or deduct that money from the contractors. All you did was force the little guy to pay. Idiots.

A lot of people look back at child labor emotionally instead of historically. The alternative for many families at the time often wasn’t “comfortable schooling and modern welfare.” It was extreme poverty, starvation, dangerous farm labor, disease, or entire families collapsing financially. As productivity, technology, wages, and living standards rose, child labor declined naturally because families could finally afford not to rely on it. Ironically, industrialization is what largely made widespread childhood education and modern expectations of childhood possible in the first place.

A 1% wealth tax on America’s 900 billionaires would raise more tax revenue than all the income taxes paid by people making less than $50,000 combined.

@GavinNewsom And Gavin wants in on it. It's getting tiresome staling only from California. Imagine what his wife could do selling diapers at 100% markup to the entire country.

Wait! Are you really going g down the oath of Frank making housing more affordable when he dropped requirements for mortgage qualification and homes were sold to people that couldn't afford them, leading to the market crash and required the rescue of the global banking system. That resulted in the Great Recession. You should really stop speaking and go enjoy one of your 4 mansions, Mr. Conman!!!

@3KComeback It's a bad idea. Because people pay little to no taxes they aren't as invested and only look for what the govt can do for them. If everyone paid (actually paid, as in writing a check) taxes you'd see more civic involvement, and likely a tax code change within weeks.

Jeff Bezos thinks that the bottom half of earners should pay 0% income tax. It contributes 3% of overall tax revenue. How do we feel about this?
