When we look back on why Trump won this election, it won't be because he was a better choice. Kamala was more than qualified. She was one of the most qualified persons to run for office in a very long time. She offered Americans $25,000 towards their first home. She offered $50,000 to small businesses. She offered intelligence and critical thinking. Yet, Amerca decided to go with dimwitted criminal with 34 felony counts, a convicted sexual abuser, a fail businessman, accused of being a pedophile who tried to overthrow the government. As we look at the absolute chaos trump has caused in one year, the is was it worth it? Who's benefiting from Trump being the president? Why didn't Kamala win?

@SRuhle This is better reporting than ur first post but Biden Admin efforts were primary. Fears of consolidation of a bankrupt airline with a regional airline posed no threat to the major airlines. Dems have always been weak on business issues but now they are weak on job issues as well.

2 things can be true. - the Biden Administration blocked a JetBlue/Spirit merger out of market consolidation concerns & now here we are with one company gone. - the final blow that caused Spirit to fall was skyrocketing jet fuel prices caused by the war in Iran.

@JamieMetzl It is 100% wrong that Europe does not have an integrated, coherent field force to deter Putin adventurism. US Forces in Germany are strategically out of position to dissuade our national threats in IndoPac & act as a disincentive for Europe to build an effective defense force.

Donald Trump is 100% wrong to reduce US troop levels in Germany. This can only be seen as a gift to Vladimir Putin. The United States government should stand for America’s national interests and with our allies.

@nxt888 The history of slavery cuts thru beliefs worldwide but most deeply by the fact that it still exists in the migration of indentured workers& child sex trafficking. Modern slavers like those European planters, slave traders, African warlords& Arab merchants seek profit using fresh.

James Baldwin said it in 1965 and it has not aged a single day: The reason Americans cannot face their history is that the history indicts their identity. And you cannot ask someone to accept the evidence that destroys who they think they are. White Americans, he said, need the Black American to remain inferior, because their own superiority is the only thing that makes sense of a country built on those terms. The same structure applies outward. Americans need the rest of the world to remain in need of American guidance, American intervention, American rescue. Because without that story, what exactly was all the violence for? The empire doesn't just extract resources. It extracts meaning. And the people who built their inner lives on that meaning will fight as hard to keep it as any general ever fought to keep territory. Harder, maybe. You can negotiate territory. You cannot negotiate with someone's need to believe they are one of the good ones.

@SRuhle As a newsie u should NEVER use the line ‘That is the story.’ Dancing w/ bankruptcy&plagued by Mgmnt issues sounds like a candidate for merger or takeover. Why did you not report Biden, Pete&Dems were against Jet Blue merger offer bc of anti-big biz views? Ur bias has blinded u.

@ianbremmer Is there any strategic purpose for keeping 5,000 US troops in Germany? No, not for at least 30 years! Europe has never made an effort to create an integrated, effective fighting force. Europe has facilitated Putin’s adventurism in Crimea & Ukraine.

@maddenifico Hmm. Jim Crow laws were passed by Democrats. Smearing the Supremes & Constitution is a Marxist ploy to retain Black voters. These attacks will increase bc Dems r more desperate after their gambit to payoff illegal immigrants to form a new voting block has been outed &turned back.

This is why lifetime positions in the Supreme Court must be abolished. All it took to take America back to the days of Jim Crow was six woefully out of touch conservative Supreme Court justices to gut The Civil Rights Act. Women have lost autonomy over their bodies and Black people have lost their representation in congress.

@queenie4rmnola Ur Marxist interpretation of Constitution is flawed. The ElectCol does not include the 3/5 comp. The Constitution includes both. 3/5 secured the Union, advantaged slave states but prevented peaceful resolution of slavery. War w/ Democrat secessionists settled issue&14A ended 3/5.

The Electoral College decides who becomes president, not the popular vote. No matter who individual voters in places like Louisiana choose, the candidate with the majority wins all the state's electoral votes. When the Electoral College was created, it included the Three-Fifths Compromise, which counted enslaved Black people as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of determining a state’s total population. This gave extra electoral votes to states with slavery, which made a big difference. In the Election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson (a slaveholder) beat John Adams (an abolitionist) largely because of the additional electoral votes Southern states gained through the three-fifths clause. “Donald Trump won the presidency because of two artifacts of slavery: the electoral college and our post-Reconstruction legacy of state voter suppression and disenfranchisement efforts. The electoral college was created in the Constitution to protect the interests of slave owners. And current voter suppression efforts are a direct legacy of white efforts to prevent Blacks from voting after the Fifteenth Amendment prohibited race discrimination in voting.“ — Perea (2018) Besides Donald Trump, George Bush, Benjamin Harrison, and Rutherford B. Hayes all became president without winning the majority of the popular vote. This system is anti-democratic and continues to empower white Southerners at the expense of Black Southerners.
Nora@Heal_within96

@queenie4rmnola How is it rooted in slavery? Can you please explain

As I’ve said since that first Trump term, we may never know why Trump is so loyal to Putin. Bribery? Blackmail? Affinity for dictators & oligarchs? KGB asset? All of the above? More important is stopping him, because if he were a Russian agent, what would he do differently?
Jim Sciutto@jimsciutto

Trump has been threatening such reductions to a number of European and Asian allies going back to his first term. This particular announcement comes the same day he spoke with Putin - and it’s a development Russia would certainly welcome.

@PaulNiland US troops in Ger have been unnecessary since the fall of the Berlin Wall, reunification of Germany&dissolution of the Soviet Union. For 30 years those forces have been strategically misplaced not providing deterrence against radical Islam, China, N. Korea or Russian adventurism.

Something a lot of people don't see. Trump thinks US troops in Germany are there to protect Germany. They're not. They're there because the US needs the bases to be able to carry out US operations beyond the north American continent. Trump doesn't understand this basic fact.
Rep. Don Bacon 🇺🇸✈️🏍️⭐️🎖️@RepDonBacon

The continued attacks on NATO allies are counterproductive. The comments hurt Americans. I commanded the huge Ramstein AB in Germany. The two big airfields in Germany give us great access in three continents. We are shooting ourselves in our own feet.

@JonLemire Marxist word games. Maybe you should call Trump a ‘benevolent tyrant’ as opposed to an ‘evil tyrant.’ Or maybe explain how Trump became a tyrant after winning two Presidential elections. Or are you an election denier on top of a disingenuous provocateur?

@AybarsHanTR Napoleon gave up his aspirations for America when he sold Louisiana in 1805 to finance his Euro wars. The alliance of Great Britain, Prussia, Russia, Austria & Sweden forced his abdication in 1814. Waterloo was the finale in 1815. A Euro alliance defeated France not just England.

@KKriegeBlog A lot to comment on. Yes, the British Army was superior yet it was severely bloodied on Breed’s Hill, out foxed at Princeton, captured at Saratoga, frustrated by the Swamp Fox& surrendered at Yorktown. What the Brits&Nazis had in common was arrogance towards their adversaries.

America 250th. There's 1 thing I wish people knew about the Revolutionary War: the Brits didn't lose because they were slow and we had trees. They lost because they were a high speed, low drag, tactically-adaptable force, whose gov't asked them to do the impossible. 🧵 1/20
