I'm guessing Kinitsu-Gami was creatively stifled by Capcom due to how they have been lately, but no confirmation on that, and Pragmata/RE7-RE8 seem like exceptions

@Binstic @BrandonRStreams Dmc5, re9 and even pragmata are great games, I'd say they are doing well. It's just that their art-styles has become so much more boring. But considering kamiya is bringing back okami, there is some hope. And kunitsu-gami has a cool art-style i'd say.

@BrandonRStreams She looks great when she is in an anime art-style. Wish the game was actually cel-shaded and had a unique anime art-style. Kinda miss when some capcom game used to look really anime as heck even if no cel-shading.

They do this because as a private company they arent beholden to the dumbshit Ford ruling which narrowly defined "shareholder interest" and legally mandates public companies to act against their own best interests even if its long term thinking. Valve did the same thing with the Index, they push gaming forward because a rising tide lifts all ships. We REALLY need to get Ford v Dodge overturned.

It can look like "you're a pedo" and end on: "ok, I get it but I still think it's weird" (Which a convo once had).

You don't try to convince them At least, not the people you're directly arguing with. It's for the silent majority. The ones who only watch and like. Being calm and logical are definitely good optics. So is having social awareness. Countering misinfo is also good, however we have to keep in mind people are inherently emotional and illogical, so that's only half the battle. I've noticed what really gets people to change their mind is just who they know lol. If they genuinely like somebody, they'll do all the rationalizing on their own. Good rep, not being shitty and annoying, and them having friends who are one of us goes miles for them to not generalize us as all being the same. You have no idea how many times I've seen that happen in real time just because a lolicon broke certain stereotypes they had in their head. Most of it comes from them either not knowing any of us or their only experiences with us being horrible ones.

I feel as if making easily accessible documentation countering misinformation is better than doing nothing, being calm and logical is good optics

@Thunder_Blades @Nhakainah You are not very smart and don't understand how online discourse works at all. If you observe the patterns for what works and what doesn't, you'd very easily be able to recognize that this does not work. But I guess you're too stuck in your ways to recognize that.

The frustration is coming from players who maybe dont know Japanese and articulate their issues as "I just want what was written in Japanese" which bad faith actors twist into "erm dont you know that "1 to 1" translation doesnt exist / makes no sense" Of course no one is ACTUALLY arguing for "1 to 1" translation or "literal" (both meaningless terms imo) they want FAITHFUL translations such that two players one from Japan and one from an English speaking country could talk about the game and share as close to the same experience as possible. This is patently NOT the case in a plethora of games. Final Fantasy 14 Metaphor ReFantazio Unicorn Overlord Valkryia Chronicles 1 and 4 I can go on. They have been changed substantially (puns, tone, pop culture references, excessive alliteration, inappropriate "ye olde" speak, outright censorship or character rewrites.). People want what the creator intended. Not what some suit thinks will "sell" for "western" or "modern" audiences.

@Bionstic @t_unmasked @p9cker_girl Editor's ego? The editor is the actual "localizer" in this process. I have known how this works since I followed the blog of some nice lady who was translating Digimon 01 and occasionally commented on things that got changed in the EN version before it airred.

@t_unmasked @p9cker_girl Do you know why they allow for such a thing to happen? Also, how much leeway do the translators/localizers get? Have you spoken with any other translators/localizers about there work where they come off as disliking anime/manga or tropes within them?

@p9cker_girl As a former 7S translator, I want to say editors get a lot of leeway and rewrite good and accurate translations. The translator is never shown the edits. I only learned about some bad edits to my work in Amazon reviews.
