@DelawareTrackXC @MurpheyClassic @sound_running @usatf haha, except the organization of the sentence is important... the word "support" is critical here... Also, lots of changes at usatf, good stuff happening.
English

@BiomechMax @MurpheyClassic @sound_running @usatf putting usatf and sensible fiscal understanding in the same sentence is wild
English

It's ok, @MurpheyClassic and @sound_running events July 12, run by experienced orgs with sensible fiscal understanding, are still happening w/ @usatf support. Let's hope this is a valuable lesson moving forward, no need to reinvent the wheel, we just need to improve what we have!

-GST LA cancelled -The U20 kids are not going to Colombia -USATF meets cancelled
English

@stevefleck @Cathal_Dennehy Lots of reasons for this but think part of it is the youth aspects have almost no tie to what happens beyond HS. Plus, youth meets are drawn out and generally quite boring and tedious for parents. Then parents/families think the sport is boring and have no interest.
English

@Cathal_Dennehy The 🇺🇸 has a strange relationship w/ #trackandfield They are the dominate country in the world in the sport by a LONG shot. At grass-roots level - youth/club/high-school/collegiate - they have insane levels of participation. Yet few seem to actually want to watch it!
English

Fascinated to see the reasoning for this
Big questions over GST's financial viability after only ~250,000 people in the US watched each day of its first two events on TV.
In Ireland, a country of 5 million, 568,000 watched last year's European 400m final frontofficesports.com/grand-slam-tra…

@kxnaomi Technically there’s Ed Murphy Classic! Shoutout to @BiomechMax !

@kxnaomi Hopefully US athletes and stakeholders get behind established and supportive events like @MurpheyClassic and @sound_running!

Track on U.S. soil is crumbling by the day it seems 😭

New study where we investigate whether 1) ‘super shoes’ work for recreat. runners, and 2) why some runners benefit more
1. Super shoes improved RE by 2–4%
2. Comfort, anthropometrics, muscle architecture & running style didn't explain who benefited most

Hey Memphis sport media, the @MurpheyClassic is hosting Olympian Kyree King tomorrow as a speaker at the @MSCIAAfever metro track camp from 9am to 12pm at Halle stadium. Kyree is ranked top 10 in the world in the 200m and is a Paris Olympian.

@CitiusMag That is a niche joke and I'm here for it 😂
English

Great study by @KimHebertLosier!
Running in a painted super shoe labeled “knock off” and in an intact one to tease out placebo effect.
Differences in perceptual DVs but not in objective measures (RE + biomech) rejecting the placebo hypo.
Nicely done!

@novicephysio @GregLehman I finish my easy runs with no problems :)
Jokes aside, I don’t know the degree to which small kinematic changes influence markers of performance.
English

@BiomechMax @GregLehman Is the change in kinematics at a detriment to performance?
English

@BiomechMax Nice new paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38116683/
Kind of related question - Do you think its possible consciously shift work done at the ankle to the hip without any large change in kinematics?
English

@GregLehman Funny you bring this up. I have soleus issues, comes and goes but never goes away! The only 'gait modification' that has helped (reduces symptoms when I have them) is to run more upright. I think it's because of less knee flexion and dorsiflexion excursion.
English

@BiomechMax Thanks. I was actually wondering about the opposite. If we can increase the work at the hip and decrease ankle loads. Say for someone with a calf strain or Achilles tendinopathy. Without changing cadence or foot strike.
English

Is anyone else in the US getting payment issues (cannot process error) trying to register for the @ISBiomechanics annual meeting?

A student working w/ @IzzyMoorePhD is studying patellofemoral pain and gait retraining in runners. The study is online and open to runners all over the World!
