The Paddyfield Warbler trapped and ringed at an undisclosed site on the 28th July was a new bird for the region and the furthest inland record in Britain. A completely leftfield find for the few lucky observers. Photographs courtesy of Gareth and Kevin Clements.

Some slightly odd voting patterns across the three social media platforms sees the Staffs Paddyfield Warbler and Branston Marsh Warbler join the Wolverhampton Stone Curlew and Belvide American Golden Plover in the final of West Midlands Bird of the Year. Let battle commence!
