@Hunterr1 @Aviation_Intel Ferry range is not relevant, Ukraine is only 1,300km wide. FA18s have 35% greater combat range. Also, there are no F16s sitting around ready to be donated. Norway might have 12, dutch maybe 18 but these are uncertain. 41 FA18s are sitting at RAAF Williamtown waiting.

@Birdsonbranches @Aviation_Intel Lol...Ukranians will never be handed EA18s. Fantasy. US needs them. F16 has much better range than F18 and is faster. Combat radius slightly less. The F18 may have more weapon options but thats negliable for ukraine use. F16 is cheaper to run...1 engine and less maitenance.

@Mayhawk67 @ukraine_map These are in good condition. Never run off carrier, few saw combat & they were impeccably maintained, upgraded before retirement. Also have more hardpoints, longer combat range vs F16s & with 41 they can cannibalise 1/3 for parts & still have a good size fleet. No downside.

@Hunterr1 @Aviation_Intel The F-16 has a shorter combat radius, less variety of A2G munitions and less hardpoints. They are not equivalent. Not to mention the EA-18 variant/role which the F-16 cannot fill. There is also nobody ready to offer a fleet of 41 unused F-16s right now.

@Hunterr1 @Aviation_Intel The F16 is a fighter aircraft while the FA18 is a fighter/attack aircraft. The two jets are actually complementary where f16s would escort loaded up FA18s to deliver heavy poundings on vatnik positions. The FA18s are in good shape with lots of spare parts.

@fullmoon6661 @Aviation_Intel There are 41 complete jets plus parts. Even if half the jets are reserved for spare parts, a fleet of 20 jets is hugely valuable. They would also facilitate the delivery of a wide range of western weapon systems the migs cannot.
