It appears that the CCP may possibly be using Justin Sun @justinsuntron to target Steve Witkoff and his children as retaliation for the US cutting off China’s access to Iranian oil. This could very well be what is happening. The Iran War and US blockade have severely disrupted China’s imports of Iranian oil. Chinese “teapot” refiners are resorting to intermediaries to conceal their trade activity and evade sanctions. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) temporarily closed the Strait of Hormuz, forcing tankers to turn back. Although China is drawing on strategic reserves, the prolonged disruption risks serious energy shortages for China, prompting Beijing to seek alternative supplies, most notably from Russia. Sun publicly announced his shift “from business to academia” to support China’s blockchain efforts (later deleted) and has written for CCP outlets and taught even at the school. After Donald Trump’s 2024 election, his family launched World Liberty Financial (WLFI) @worldlibertyfi. Sun became a major investor, committing tens of millions and serving as an advisor. In April 2026, he sued WLFI, accusing it of freezing his hundreds of millions in tokens, stripping voting rights, and pressuring him for more money. WLFI has now countersued for defamation. The Core Question: Is this a simple business dispute, or is Sun, with his deep ties to the CCP’s top training institution, acting at least partly on behalf of Chinese interests seeking to undermine a high-profile American crypto project linked to the U.S. President and the President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East during the Iran War?
