Chat with weatherman sure he won’t mind. This big high is actually helping. Leaving a lot of cold air to roll over the top whilst grabbing moisture from the tropics with its fetch then just angles it down as upper trough and surface trough get held right over us. Doesn’t allow it to push east. Then to top it all off a massive broad and slow moving upper trough just milks the moisture out and slowly moves over. I think it’s a learning that a big La Niña often is horribly dry in the setup and a big El Niño can be quite wet. Just be brilliant if we could get 30-40. No doubt with the convective angle of the systems that there will be those isolated 80’s I’d say. And definitely edging west as the models realise how strong the ridge is. Next update should be fun to write.

My honest take @James_Stacey_ and a few will agree we only need even 50% of average from here on in and average crops could be easily achieved or better. But the F word during extended dry periods in sept Oct is the issue

As a result, I will buck the trend a little and go for an average to slightly above average April for southern coastal areas to the Lower SE, KI and the more southern Mt.Lofty Ranges. More average conditions further north and NE away from the coast trending to slight below average over the northern agricultural areas and interior. It does seem as if our Indian summer will be much shorter but later this year but I will update further on that mid-month. Given the rain we have had plus some shower activity to come, there is likely to be an opportunity to get some sowing done, if not already underway in some areas.
