One arrogant GM decided to do things a certain way when his team was literally plays away from being in the Super Bowl, and now every other GM is viewed the same. It's fair to want more but, it's reasonable to wait until you're burnt to get mad about it.

@Brady_Fred Ill admit i dont know the NFL much so cant truly compare but just my opinion, i feel like Trajan's approach at the deadline was the exact same approach at Holmes with the Lions. And thats pretty frustrating.

I was talking about this in 2022 when the Cavs made the trade for Donovan Mitchell.
There comes a day for every young team that you have to make that consolidation move. You can’t stay emotionally attached to every guy, that’s the league unfortunately.

@stevegumearthl1 Ah I get what you’re saying. Yeah, I agree with that. Fwiw I think Duren and Ausar have significantly more value than Sexton or Lauri did but yes, a real consolidation move will require more than just role players and late 1st rounders.

@stevegumearthl1 Sexton was coming off of an injury and the Cavs looked better without him. Lauri wasnt as big a threat as he is now offensively and was unplayable at times due to his defense. They gave up a LOT on that deal.

@BladeCunningham It's less about being emotionally attached and more about thinking the players you could trade aren't actually worth that much. Markannen and Sexton had to be more valuable than any guys outside of Cade and Ausar Thompson.

@jgustin113 Ausar has plenty of value as a screener, roll man, interior passer and dunker spot finisher. You can win a title with him as your fifth offensive option.

@BladeCunningham The trade off was they completely ignored him on offense as well, allowing the Cavs to load up on Cade and put two bigs in the paint. To truly maximize him, Detroit would need a stretch 5 and his finishing would need to take a massive leap. Not impossible, but a narrow path.

@jgustin113 He's the best perimeter defender in the NBA. Cleveland built their offensive gameplan around avoiding him. Any player who can affect the game on either end of the court in that manner is not tradeable for me right now.

@BladeCunningham Ausar smoking every single layup this postseason put the nature of his current game into harsh light. He's amazing, but should not be untouchable. However, he is a very, very high value asset and that should be a major factor for what that means for this team's future.

@joelirvine97 @Charlottean28 KD is Cade's OG, has been for a very long time. I think the upside of a Cade/KD pairing is that the thing that has hurt the both of them the most (bad process/TO's when being doubled) would be largely mitigated by the other's gravity.

@CadeClutch Duncan only has $2 mil guaranteed for next year though. And he is far more valuable as a player than Caris if you’re moving him to a playoff team.

@BladeCunningham Both are expiring contracts, guess it depends on the team and what else is in the package, but if I’m the Pistons I’m trying to offload Caris unless it’s a big acquisition and they are adamant about Duncan
