"The number that actually stick around to be a star on the team that they originally played for... its 6%" @TrueHoop gives @whiteygleason and @The_StilesFiles a little reality check on the likelihood of drafting a star in the NBA and having that star stick around for the long haul.

@philly_frog No problem! So much to unpack. The @TrueHoop piece from January does an amazing job taking a deep dive into specific docs and emails. But since then we learned there's a related House, Senate, and potential SEC probe into Apollo/Epstein. And at least one class action suit.

@TrueHoop During those direct exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein, did you ever discuss: - Personal financial matters? - Apollo corporate matters? - Matters related to your sports portfolio?

@TrueHoop Reporters in the room today, I hope someone will ask Josh Harris some basic questions on record: - Did you have direct email exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein? - Did you have direct phone conversations with Epstein? - Did you have any in-person meetings/interactions with Epstein?

@Tepid_Waters You're on Twitter. If you'd like nuance come over to TrueHoop.com where we've been discussing this with nuance for decades. Giannis is 31, makes $54 m. 29 teams won't sign him to a lucrative extension for his declining years, and have options.

Is this supposed to be analysis? How exactly are you supposed to 'invest in young players' in a league with a draft, fixed rookie scale salaries, 25% 30% 35% maxes depending on how long you have been in the league, bird rights that favor higher pay to already high paid veterans
Henry Abbott@TrueHoop

Invest in young players.

@peteybuckets Slice and dice it any which way and it's scary. Alternate headlines: 20% of top-five picks are great after five years. Or 39% of top-five picks are decent after five years and still with first team.

@TrueHoop love your work but this is a scare headline since you're including the lottery, the rest of the first round, and all the second rounders in this analysis

What percentage of NBA draft picks become stars on their original teams? We just crunched decades of numbers. Six percent. Six percent is the answer. truehoop.com/p/the-94-perce…

The NBA Players Association effectively requested that the NBA’s most experienced Finals referee, Scott Foster, not be assigned to this year’s Finals. truehoop.com/p/nbpa-no-scot…

NEW @YahooSports: If last night was truly LeBron James’ final game as a Laker, he’ll walk away knowing he had a Hall of Fame career *based solely on his 8 Lakers years.* LeBron has now stacked 4 HOF careers, and I shared all the data to prove it: sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/ki…

I invited my friend, colleague, and former advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff Sarah Chayes on the podcast. Sarah has written extensively on the effects of corruption in regions like Afghanistan, but what happens now that those very same mechanisms have found a home in the United States? sebastianjunger.substack.com/p/tribe-with-s…
