Teen daughter had sex education today where all pupils put a condom on a dildo. One of the girls asked: ‘Why do girls need to learn this?’ And the teacher said: ‘Well, in case the man doesn’t know how to do it.’ Apparently my daughter then said: ‘Why the hell would we be with a man who doesn’t know how to put a condom on?’ I could not be more proud. 😂😂😂

This really worries me A month ago in Wales I suffered a ruptured aneurysm in my abdomen. I lost over 2 units of blood But the Welsh ambulance service refused to send an ambulance. I was still breathing so apparently didn't need one I spent 7 hours lying on the ground in a car park. Every time I moved I threw up from the pain. The owners of the car park called 999 6x One of the people there was a fireman. He couldn't believe that 999 treated each call as a separate incident and couldn't see the details or link to previous calls. He was frustrated because they could see I was seriously ill but you can't see internal bleeding and so there was no way to persuade 999 that it actually was an emergency Eventually my husband arrived by taxi, journey of more than 3 hours from our home He gave me my pain meds (the car park people were worried about liability and I was too ill to get them myself). This meant I was able to crawl into the car and he drove me to A&E He got me into a wheelchair. We waited 75 minutes to see a doctor. I was shivering, heaped with blankets and threw up all over the floor As soon as a doctor looked at me I was taken straight to resus. The next day I was transfered by blue light ambulance to another hospital, had a blood transfusion and spent 5 days on the high dependency unit If my husband hadn't been able to come and look after me I have no idea how I would have survived. As it was I nearly didn't I would not have been able to get myself to hospital nor would I have been able to log into some digital triage system This scheme seems to assume if you're seriously ill you'll arrive by ambulance and if not you're well enough to navigate a digital portal My experience suggests that's a dangerous assumption A week later, back home in England I had another ruptured aneurysm. This time an ambulance came in 2 hours and again I was taken straight to resus It wasn't the same because I had a recent diagnosis of a ruptured aneurysm so we could tell 999 I was almost certainly bleeding internally. But I was too ill to get myself down the stairs and out to the car. We still needed that ambulance and I still wouldn't have been able to fiddle around with an ipad Proper triage REQUIRES an actual doctor to look at the patient. It takes a matter of minutes to differentiate between a life threatening emergency and not a life threatening emergency. That's not minutes to get a diagnosis but to know that the person is stable or not stable and if not that needs immediate attention Seriously ill people can't do it themselves. It doesn't matter how smart or articulate they are normally. Or how tough. Expecting people to manage their own emergency care isn't what a modern health service should do telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06/1…

@Liz_ORiordan The trouble is, Liz, so much of it is AI slop or just out and out lies…. But then Facebook is going the same way. Is there any platform that can be trusted?

@michaelgove You were excellent on #HIGNFY this evening. Paul Merton and Ian Hislop, on the other hand, embarrassed themselves by their rudeness. How you kept your temper, I do not know.

My own story of @AndyBurnhamGM being a genuinely decent man: undergoing chemotherapy at 17, I was invited to his roundtable with young people on the NHS. I couldn’t make it as I was too unwell. This letter arrived a few days later. 1/2

I love @marksandspencer and I’m all for the green agenda ♻️ but the bread sitting out uncovered makes me want to boke 🤮 I saw two people handling it and putting it back, and one doll sneezing all over it 🤧

@John_Dabell This is grim for you John: I’m so sorry. Don’t hesitate to accept any help that’s out there - perhaps medication to help you cope with the psychological effects…. You are the bravest person I know 💖

Culturally and psychologically, “not eating or drinking” is associated with: * dying * hospice * final stages * withdrawal from the world Being nil by mouth is certainly challenging my mind, body and soul. To be honest, it is existentially terrifying and after 2 months, I'm struggling every day. I've lost 3 stones in weight since being in Critical Care. Christmas, New Year and the cold weather haven't helped. All I want to do is eat and drink but this is not ever going to be a safe option for me again. I'll be writing a blog soon in this to get it off my chest. Sorry to moan!

@UPS Yesterday you failed to deliver my parcel as I was at work, despite confirming that you would use my ‘safe place’. Spent half an hour on the phone to you last night when you confirmed delivery today. Just received a ‘failed to deliver’ notification. What do I have to do??

This afternoon, I had a video fluoroscopy swallowing assessment. It showed food and liquid passing into my lungs. That means eating or drinking is no longer safe for me. The risk of aspiration and infection is simply too high. So, eating and drinking are now off the menu. Tube feeding is my future. And that truth is devastating because it’s not just about food. It’s about losing something deeply human - something social, comforting, familiar, and instinctive. It’s about knowing that if I try to eat or drink, I could end up straight back in Critical Care. I will adapt because I must. But today, this loss hurts.

So, I went for my RIG procedure today to insert a tube into my stomach. Unfortunately, the procedure was abandoned as the radiologists were unable to get a clear image of my stomach. It appears my liver has moved & enlarged & is covering the stomach. An op may now be required.

📻 Afternoon! I’m sitting in for Jane this week with Fi @TimesRadio from 2-4pm: The BBC, what happens next? Does teenage binge drinking lead to professional success? Would you use Grokopedia? The ROH introduce dynamic ticket pricing and what’s in the mind of a 16 year old?
