In the New Testament, the fundamental division is between Jew and Gentile, not Israel and the church. The gospel unites both Jew and Gentile into one New Covenant people. While ethnic Israel can still be distinguished historically and sociologically, Scripture does not present Israel and the church as two separate peoples of God with distinct redemptive destinies.

It is entirely possible for a nation to promote true religion without establishing the church. Too few know this, especially Baptists. But rightly understood, Baptists can and should support a view of the nation and the nations that acknowledge Christ's Lordship.
