I wrote a book review for the American Historical Review but did not experience the joy of reviewing books until I reviewed James Baird's King of Kings.

@IVMiles @presbycast Wouldn't the analogy for creeds be civil law? for church officers civil magistrates? Xian Nats are not arguing for Christian laws (like Schaeffer did). They are arguing for regenerate magistrates, as if regeneration solves Acton's phrase about corruption and power

The problem w this argument is that it also means we shouldn't have creeds or confessions. And if your argument is "total depravity doesn't apply to the church or its officers" congratulations you're essentially Roman Catholic and engaged in spiritual tyranny.
Presbycast@presbycast

The proponents of this view have not convinced me that they have thought deeply about its implications in light of the Reformed doctrine of total depravity. It seems more about sentiment—a political-cultural dopamine hit which may create more problems than it solves.

there it is, the John Frame idea that Scripture applies to all of life. Not even the Westminster Divines believed that Scripture governed all of worship. "there are some circumstances concerning the worship of God, and government of the church...ordered by the light of nature"

@D00M42 @ReallyOldLife I respect you for seeking to read the source material. Seriously - mad respect. I will only say this for now: most who are against CN are simply against going further in and further up with applying the Scriptures to all of life. I sense that from you. Also, never read Baird.

@JEdwards974649 Pretty sure God's standards are inherent to himself. Also pretty sure God is a spirit. Q. 4. What is God? A. God is a spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.

@ReallyOldLife A person can’t be a standard. What is God’s standard of morality revealed to us?

@ReallyOldLife You said "church ministers gospel" despite the fact most churches today do not do that. Clearly you were speaking of "ought" and not "is". Don't play dumb and switch to "is" now!

@ReallyOldLife By this point, you should name names and explain which CN's are promoting, "the state ministers gospel" since all of the ones I'm following are saying the opposite.

@JobRaktOutAshes I need specifics. Are you scared to offer them? Or do you simply tweet?
