@BlazeRayce @Abdul_AAAhmad Not readily available. Corticosteroids are usually ineffective since they don't affect the bradykinin pathway
A good alternative is Tranexamic acid which inhibits bradykinin production.
English

@thediabetes_doc @Abdul_AAAhmad But sir, is Icatibant available for clinical use.
English

@Abdul_AAAhmad Good attempt. Congratulations on your blue tick.
Since the main cause is bradykinin accumulation, you need bradykinin receptor antagonists like icabitant
Fresh frozen plasma can help cause it has ACE which will breakdown the bradykinin.

@adetipzy @popoolaadaniel That's not true, the manual sphygmomanometer still remains the best.
English

Digital (oscilometric) sphygs are more accurate than manual sphygs because they are more sensitive and remove observer error which is very common with manual mercyry sphygs. They are also safe for the environment due to absence of mercury. They are the current recommendation for blood pressure measurement. Barometric sphygs are used more for research now.

@osadiname @Dr_Afo Lol! You sound wretched, hope you have sth to eat this night. Dumb and pitiful. Better face your studies.

@hechnw @FinPlanKaluAja1 You still don't get it, government can't finance it alone, and can't also sustain it. It's huge. Investors have to see a culture of people willing to pay for the high tariff, else no Investor will put in money.
English

@FinPlanKaluAja1 Not so. This is simply one sided perspective.
Government have to sponsor generation and transmission. This is how it works, that is why we pay tax for goodness sakes.

I am not an expert in power, but this is my understanding. I would like to know whether power experts agree or disagree.
This is my summary
1. Nigeria needs massive investment in power infrastructure
2. Nigeria and Nigerians can't fund this investment because it's in USD; turbines and natural gas
3. To attract investment in Nigerian power, the tariffs paid by the Nigerian consumers have to go up.
4. Nigerian consumers can't afford higher power tariffs.
5. In other nations, the government will subsidize the power cost via subsidies, so that consumers can pay lower today but higher tomorrow as they boost consumption and investment due to power availability.
6. Nigeria also subsidized power to consumers via the Multi-Year Tariff Order MYTO); however, as the MYTO is winding down, the consumers' incomes have fallen, thus it's very hard to raise power tariffs
7. If tariffs don't rise, investors or $ won't come
8. If investors don't come, power generation and distribution will not improve, meaning fewer users of grid power and a higher average power cost.
9. The critical issue is the cost of power paid by consumers, and thus tariffs

@Unabombaar My Ibo brothers please calm down, this gaslighting is too much

Brain Jotter went to the first African social media influencer summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and, instead of dressing in Igbo attire to promote Igbo culture, he appeared in an attire given to the Yorubas by the Fulani. I know my support means nothing to him, but I have unfollowed him. As Ndi Igbo, we cannot afford to be this clueless at this point in time. Yet when it comes to using Igbo culture to create low-IQ content, that is where you will always find him.

@BlazeRayce Yes.
Dentistry is expensive.
They did two procedures for him though.
Shout out to him and his fine teeth

You need about ₦30 million to ₦40 million to start a decent dental practice in Nigeria.
Many people genuinely do not understand how expensive dentistry is.
It is one of the most capital-intensive healthcare professions to enter privately.
But at the same time, if done properly, it can also be very rewarding.
Look at something as basic as the dental chair alone.
A standard dental chair setup can already cost around ₦5 million for a basic one. Premium dental chairs can easily enter the ₦15 million to ₦20 million range.
And that is just the chair.
Now start adding instruments.
Basic instruments alone quietly swallow money:
- Mouth mirrors — ₦15k
- Explorers/probes — ₦20k
- College tweezers — ₦15k
- Extraction forceps sets — ₦150k to ₦700k
- Elevators — ₦20k to ₦150k
- Scalers/curettes — ₦20k to ₦200k
- Composite instruments — ₦10k to ₦80k
- Endodontic files — ₦15k to ₦120k
- Surgical trays
- Impression trays
- Local anesthesia syringes
Your “small instruments” alone can already cost between ₦500k to ₦2 million.
Then you move to actual operatory equipment:
- High-speed handpiece
- Low-speed handpiece
- Ultrasonic scaler
- LED curing light
- Amalgamator
- Suction system
- Air compressor
- Dental stool
Then sterilization:
- Autoclave
- Ultrasonic cleaner
- Sealing machine
- Sterilization pouches
Then radiography starts attacking your pocket aggressively.
An intraoral X-ray machine alone can already cost millions.
Then:
- RVG sensors,
- OPG machines,
- CBCT scanners.
At that point, you start understanding why many young dentists avoid buying some equipment initially because the prices are brutal.
Then consumables continue draining money every month:
- gloves,
- masks,
- composite,
- bonding agents,
- burs,
- anesthetic cartridges,
- needles,
- impression materials,
- gypsum,
- saliva ejectors,
- suction tips,
- disinfectants.
Monthly consumables alone can range from ₦100k to ₦1 million depending on patient flow.
Then remember this is Nigeria.
So now you must think about:
- generators,
- inverters,
- installation,
- furnishing,
- plumbing,
- stabilizers,
- clinic setup,
- power protection.
That alone can still cost several millions.
So realistically, a decent modern dental clinic can easily cost:
- ₦15 million,
- ₦25 million,
- ₦40 million+.
And for high-end digital practices, the numbers become even more insane.
I once listened to the CEO of a popular dental clinic in Nigeria explain how she started saving and planning toward private practice from dental school.
At first I thought it was excessive.
Now I understand.
Dentistry is one of those careers where clinical skill alone is not enough.
You also need capital.
A lot of it.

@Dr_Afo Registrars in the units are jostling to observe these procedures that's if they have thoroughly finished the ward work with the HOs, is it a bloody corper that will now be allowed to enter the theatre.

Please make Una give me connect about where NYSC doctors can learn complex procedures like Neuro, cardiac and plastic surgery.
I have a lot of young doctors that would like to be able to separate Siamese twins and fix ventricular septa defect after NYSC.
Even if it's to be able to do BBL alone.
Who residency help self?
