Talent is not the private property of one officer. No system should become so dependent on a single individual that it begins to ignore larger questions of integrity and public trust. I do not know whether this officer is corrupt or not. But if those in power genuinely believe an officer has integrity issues, then it is neither right nor sensible to place them in a sensitive and credibility-dependent department like DVAC. That is not reward-worthy posting material.

A lot of @TVKVijayHQ supporters are expressing concern over the appointment of A. Arun, IPS as the Director of DVAC. But look at the bigger picture carefully. You don't place an officer with his specific insider experience into the absolute core of anti-corruption enforcement by accident. Arun knows the inner workings, the departmental irregularities, and the exact files involving previous DMK ministers better than anyone else. If he is given this specific mandate, it means serious commitments and backend understandings are already in place to dismantle corruption from the roots. Once the first major corruption cases get filed and past scams are opened up, every single worried supporter will understand the genius behind this choice.

No one is claiming there is some official “rule,” and even the journalists you are appealing to would deny that such a rule exists. The public is asking for the exact same thing you are asking for: “do journalism properly.” The real issue is that sensationalism has become king while actual journalism is becoming harder and harder to find. Outrage gets amplified, nuance gets buried, and narratives get decided before facts are even examined. I once believed you were relatively unbiased, but over time that illusion faded too.

Dear Tamil Nadu journalists, there is no rule in this world that says we should not criticize the newly elected government for the first six months. I keep seeing journalists repeating this nonsense everywhere, again and again. It doesn’t matter if the government is new or old, just do your job. Don’t waste your time worrying about imaginary rules. Every time we see injustice and poor governance, it is our duty to talk about it, and staying silent is wrong. Becasue its people who are getting affected in the end. And finally, if you still wish to protect the government for some reason, I would advise you to find a better excuse.

Guys, everyone is saying this move is wrong and criticizing it. But if we think about it carefully, there could be bigger reasons behind it. If the CM is appointing someone who allegedly caused him so much trouble to such an important position there must be multiple factors at play. It is quite possible that Arun knows, in detail about the alleged irregularities or corruption involving various DMK ministers. If he is being placed in the Director, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption role it is unlikely to be a random decision. There must have been serious discussions, understandings or commitments behind the scenes. This could be a masterstroke. The real outcome of this decision will likely become clear in the coming months. Then people may understand why the leader specifically chose to place him in the anti-corruption enforcement position. @TVKVijayHQ @CMOTamilnadu @AadhavArjuna

There were friends and strategists from TVK who were asking why I was so anxious before results. Some said still Ok if they finished second and got 60-70 seats but I never felt that was ok. If it turned out something like TVK 73 and DMK+ 108, DMK would have ripped them apart brick by brick and there was only a small margin of error by 2-3% swing for that to happen. The stakes were high for JV, win or bust and he made it.

@DevadossGabriel You came to this conclusion within just 15 days of this government, yet when it comes to NTK and Seeman, suddenly people must wait decades for the ideology to “take root” and bear fruit. The double standards are so obvious that you’ve exposed your own bias.

I genuinely want to know. Is anyone interviewing these men why they rape children? What makes them rape kids? What exactly? What’s the mindset?

#TamilNadu | A 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered by her neighbour in #Coimbatore. Police zeroed in on a neighbour after footage showed he had lured the child away from the place. In an attempt to evade arrest, accused jumped from the first floor and sustained fractures to his right hand and right leg. Read here 🔗 toi.in/SZuyub73

What makes a society safer is not endless sensationalism after a tragedy, but a serious effort to understand the roots of such crimes. If the media and other influential institutions spent even a fraction of the energy they invest in outrage cycles on studying and discussing the psychology, warning signs, social failures, policing gaps, abuse patterns, and behavioural triggers behind crimes against children, the state would arguably be in a far better place today. Instead, every incident becomes a temporary spectacle. Panels scream, hashtags trend, politicians posture, and then society moves on until the next horror arrives. Very few are willing to ask the uncomfortable but necessary questions: what creates such offenders, what warning signs were missed, what environments enable this behaviour, and how can future victims actually be protected? Preventing crime requires deeper societal introspection. But introspection does not generate the same ratings as sensationalism, and unfortunately that has become the real priority for large sections of the media ecosystem.

I have talked to around 20-30 people in my office and in my locality and also to Auto and Cab drivers and why they voted for TVK. Their reasons are ridiculous, careless, selfish, ignorant, pointless, insane. Most said “for fun”, “because my daughter (13 year old) told so”, “Vijay should become CM”, “edho different ah irukatum nu vote panom”, “therila chumma potom”… seriously? People who benefit from Govt vote for same Govt. People who are wronged from Govt vote for diff Govt. But there are a group of people whose lives don’t change on surface levels no matter what political party wins and comes to ruling. They have that privilege from life and lack of political awareness, irrespective of their financial status like lower middle class or upper middle class or even the affluent ones. These are the people who vote for fun, for convenience, for irresponsible reasons.

You must be living in a different world with a different constitution. In India, the system is first-past-the-post, just like in many other democracies. The remaining 65% did not unite behind one clear alternative, so naturally the 35% that voted cohesively for one side won. That’s how the system works, whether you like the result or not.

Vijay is an incompetent CM, and his ministers seem clueless. My worry is that people are suffering because they let emotions take over and forgot to assess what the previous government had done. All they wanted was change, but not necessarily the right change. I pity the people

@saravofcl Boss, I genuinely thought you had some clout within the party. Turns out you’re just another low-level functionary whose job is to circulate convenient fake narratives until the party decides it’s time to disown them and move on. Tough role, honestly.

@TamilTheHindu @nramind Are these fake news posts, AI-edited narratives, and blatant misinformation also visible to you, or does the vision suddenly become selective at convenient moments? Don’t worry, no need to answer. The people already know the answer, and judging by recent events, they seem to be responding accordingly. Best you learn from it instead of pretending not to see it.

Again the same tired narrative that politics can only be done one way and leadership can only emerge through the old political assembly line. Experience is not exclusive to career politicians. People build experience through life, work, leadership, failure, responsibility, and decision-making in many different arenas. The real problem is this obsession with gatekeeping politics as if only a select class knows how governance works. New approaches will naturally come with learning curves and setbacks. That is normal in any transition. What ultimately matters is not whether every interaction fits an old template, but the collective impact of the actions taken and whether they improve people’s lives. Politics is evolving whether the old ecosystem likes it or not.

The strategy of staying inside a curated bubble of exciting cinematic reels is highly effective for building a massive, loyal fan base, but the hard truth is that you @TVKVijayHQ cannot run a real government just on Instagram and social media reels. True governance requires a dialogue; if you only speak at the public through a scripted camera lens, you aren't engaging, you're just broadcasting. Leadership is forged when you can answer for your choices in real-time without an edit button or a second take. @TVKVijayHQ must set aside a time every week to face the press. This is paramount to proving you are running a real administration rather than a glamorous PR campaign. At some point, the cinematic music will fade out, the cameras will stop rolling on a script, and the real conversation has to begin.
