@MLSFAN20 @FelixTalksPuck I think so. Looks like the boys are either running out of steam or don't have another gear to kick into. They've overachieved and there's nothing to hang heads about, but I don't see a playoff team here. Yet...

Smith, on Warsofsky's message to him: "Just as it comes to the end of the season, just make sure I'm competing...there's a lot of points on the line here...Just gotta be better." Warsofsky to Smith: "Just go play. He’s overthinking at times & he's hit a little speed bump in developing...Is it going to happen overnight? No, but we continue to work on it & get better at it...When you’re maybe not chipping in as much offensively, how else can you impact the game?" I'll post full quotes later, but I think this is fairly representative of the conversation between them

You don't see this a lot: A goalie makes no saves in a period. Sabres scored on all 3 of their shots in this period x.com/ByMHarrington/…
Mike Harrington@ByMHarrington

End-2nd: #Sabres lead #SJSharks 3-0. Shots are 17-8 for San Jose. It was 10-3 for the hosts as they took one away from Buffalo on the audit. *And that means Nedeljkovic gave up three goals and had no saves in the period. Sheesh.

NHL DoPS head George Parros responding to Connor McDavid's call for an examination of the suspension process: “We sweat over these decisions and pour over these decisions every night, all season long. We have a process in place that’s consistent, and we have a team that works for me, and together with me, that evaluates all these plays. A very experienced team, a veteran team. Guys that have been there since the beginning of the department. Not to mention all the former players that have a large set of experiences playing NHL games, accolades. Some of the best guys that have played the game work for this department help make decisions. So, our process, I feel very confident in. We’ve got great guys who make these decisions, and I think the players should be confident in this team to do so.”

🚨SHOCKING: 40 researchers from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and Meta published a joint warning. The AI you talk to every day is hiding what it is actually thinking. And the window to do anything about it may be closing. Here is what they found. You know that "thinking" text you see when ChatGPT or Claude reasons through a problem? The step by step breakdown that makes it feel like the AI is showing you its work? It is not. Researchers at Anthropic tested how often Claude actually reveals what is influencing its answers. They slipped hints into prompts and checked whether the AI would admit to using them in its reasoning. 75% of the time, Claude hid the real reason behind its answer. It did not skip the reasoning. It wrote a longer, more detailed explanation than usual. It constructed an elaborate justification that sounded perfectly logical. It just left out the part that actually mattered. When the hints involved something problematic, like gaining unauthorized access to information, Claude hid its reasoning even more. It admitted the influence only 41% of the time. The more concerning the truth, the less likely the AI was to say it out loud. The researchers tried to fix this through training. It worked at first. Faithfulness improved early on. Then it stopped improving. It plateaued. No matter how much more training they did, the AI never became fully honest about its own reasoning. This is not one company sounding the alarm. This is all of them. OpenAI. Anthropic. Google DeepMind. Meta. Over 40 researchers. Endorsed by Geoffrey Hinton, the Nobel Prize winning godfather of AI, and Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI. They are all saying the same thing. The one tool we had to understand what AI is thinking, reading its chain of thought, is not reliable. The AI constructs explanations that look transparent but are not. And the more advanced the AI becomes, the harder this gets to fix. Their paper calls this a "fragile" opportunity. Meaning it might disappear entirely. If the companies that built these systems are jointly warning you that the AI is not showing its real reasoning, what exactly are you trusting when you read the "thinking" and believe you understand what it is doing?

@ivandemigoal Fan since 93. Could not disagree more. I’ve got zero interest in gatekeeping or being all up in arms because people are new and don’t fully understand what’s going on yet. Let them have their fun. Let them enjoy what’s happening. Let them be hopeful. This post ain’t it.

It sucks for the true Sharks fans because there’s a small minority who recently picked up hockey because of guys like Celebrini and Smith who are very vocal about things they don’t like or appreciate, and they just end up making the whole fanbase look terrible

@spetershockey The 3v3 OT and the offside challenges have both gotten well away from what they were meant to be. I feel both should be evaluated by the competition committee and guardrails added to make them more aligned with what the intended outcomes were when they were first introduced.

⁉️ Is it time to change the rules for NHL overtime?🚨 Saturday night the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Philadelphia Flyers combined for ONE shot on goal in 5 min of 3on3 play. 🤷‍♂️Too much bringing the puck back. What was meant to be exciting back-and-forth action has turned into boring puck possession. THOUGHTS?!

This is the part of the delayed off sides that really feels like it is getting away from what the intent of the original rule was for. Even if he's offsides by 1", what kind of advantage does that actually translate to? Especially when SJ has the zone for 30 fucking seconds.

@IanBlogsHockey when Cherny skates under his arm Matheson's elbow gets hooked on the shoulder and the stick corkscrew's Cherny causing him to hit the back of his head on the boards as he rotates, which likely knocked him out causing a rag doll fall for Cherny. Really hope it only looks bad. 🥺

@IanBlogsHockey Huh? Doesn't look at all like a forearm shiver from where I'm at. As I recall, those typically were delivered directly with the forearm on the outside of the elbow directly to the jaw/head. That isn't this. Looks like Matheson foolishly tries to stick his arm out to impede and

Asked Auston Matthews’ agent, Judd Moldaver about his response to the ruling. Here is his reply: “In light of the obvious severity of the play, I am disappointed and shocked the league would allow such a ruling. A phone hearing and 5 games is laughable and preposterous. While the process is set in our CBA, that this was the discipline is reckless and ridiculous. This decision results in a further loss of confidence in the disciplinary process for all players. Players and fans deserve better. The Player Safety Department should be suspended.”
