@BlitzDoes @SkySportsNews @PGMOL_FA yep clear and obvious, unless your Salisbury or a United fan, ask the other 99% of football fans out their and see what they say? Handball.

@BlitzDoes @SkySportsNews @PGMOL_FA Because the head of the PGMOL has literally just come out and said he got it wrong, that's why, quite simply really.

Why are fans of teams being given dubious favourable decisions by the officials so offended? It’s not actually personal we just want a fair process for everyone #NFFC

So to break it down... - Rules correctly applied as they are written - Uproar from everyone purely cause it goes Utd's way - PGMOL boss changes his own interpretation of the law cause of the anti Utd uproar Every year the interpretation of something changes with Utd involved
Namira@Namira375571

@AnnieEaves Fully agree and the same Howard Webb was happy with this identical handball earlier in the season skysports.com/football/video…

To throw an official under the bus for a decision that could be justifiable looks like a blatant attempt to take heat off PGMOL for how absurdly complicated the rules and guidelines have made officiating. Put it all on the individual instead.

@AnnoyG97968 @justRedDevil @WEWANTGLAZEROUT @SkySportsPL Of course but who are they going to be held accountable to? They're governing themselves and I've seen Howard Webb do this before, having different views on the same situation and he's got more time than the Var/refs to make a decision on things and he still gets it wrong

@justRedDevil @BlitzDoes @WEWANTGLAZEROUT @SkySportsPL No it shouldn't we've personally had no end of shitey decisions and some serious questions should be answered and people should be held accountable as I said before mate luckily it makes zero difference to either position but it still annoys a fan with the way modern footy is now

That’s nice of them… Maybe knock some money off our tab with the FA for complaining about officiating, or give #NFFC the point we earned yesterday. Salisbury will still be there at the weekend, ruining someone else’s day, but at least they’ve apologised.

But apparently, rule 7.4 on page 1000 said the goal should stand, according to the Man U experts. It just shows, talk loud enough and people will believe anything. Ridiculous decision which thankfully doesn't change much other than giving Man U fans false hope they are on the up.
John Percy@JPercyTelegraph

#nffc receive apology from PGMOL chief Howard Webb, who has accepted that referee Michael Salisbury was wrong in not ruling out Manchester United’s second goal for handball. Forest may have avoided relegation but these decisions still cost clubs millions of pounds in league merit payments. Poor & happening way too often in the PL telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

"People have COMPLETELY BUTCHERED the law of the game!" 🔪 The PGMOL have reportedly issued an apology to Nottingham Forest acknowledging that Man United's second goal should NOT have stood, but should they actually be apologising? 👀 Terry doesn't think so! What do you think? 🤔👇 #mufc

@justRedDevil @AnnoyG97968 @WEWANTGLAZEROUT @SkySportsPL The funniest part is, this has had WAY more coverage and less impact than the West Ham decision vs Arsenal. The fact journalists aren't calling out HW speaks volumes too. If they spoke about this situation and called him out for the Rutter statement, then fair enough

@AnnoyG97968 @BlitzDoes @WEWANTGLAZEROUT @SkySportsPL This game doesn't change the course of either teams season. So why the uproar now? Not when it cost west ham points they desperately need or when it saw Utd eliminated from the cup. The irony if people were outraged about this in 22 then Utd wouldn't have benefited now.

@FPLfrasier This one is even worse but goal was given in the same season. West Ham are getting relegated because of this but there is no outrage. The selective outrage is depressing

@nottmtails Human error but the head of the PGMO has explained it earlier in the season, in a near like for like situation. Worse, the goalscorer was the offender here but I've not seen one journalist call out the hypocrisy

And, with perfect timing, as if to prove we are all guilty of human error from time to time, his name is of course Michael Salisbury, not Graham. Graham is his dad and was also a referee. But he retired in 2021. Showing my age in more than one sense there...

Referees chief Howard Webb has called Nottingham Forest today to concede that Manchester United's second goal should have been ruled out at Old Trafford. Ref Graham Salisbury should have chalked off Matheus Cunha’s 55th min strike in #NFFC's 3-2 defeat. nytimes.com/athletic/72887…

@AnnoyG97968 @justRedDevil @WEWANTGLAZEROUT @SkySportsPL Regardless of if you think it handball, it shows a clear hypocrisy from the guy whose at the head of all this, PGMO clearly isnt fit for purpose if the guy at the top isn't even consistent in his interpretation of the rules
