The version of original sin taught to me said I was born sinful and I’d always be sinful. Literally everything I did was sinful, even good things were like “filthy rags” because I couldn’t remove my sinful desires from them. This is not only wrong, it’s incredibly harmful.

Feel free to skip all this. After 14 years of homeschooling, my 4 youngest are schooling elsewhere. 2 of my kids are in private Christian school and 2 are in public school. It’s been such a range of emotions these last few weeks. My husband wanted to discuss making the switch 5 years ago. Last year, I finally had peace, and we decided to start prepping them. My random thoughts as I’m still processing this big change. The good, bad, and ugly: 1) I’m not bored. I have work hours. But I actually get legit breaks now. And I’m learning to complete my thoughts again, which is super fun and a bit surreal. 2) I feel jealousy for how hard my kids work for their teachers. 3) Their teachers are all amazing and have walked me through this transition with so much patience and compassion. 4) I’m excited to hear about their days and what they learned. They all LOVE their school. They are eager to go back each day. 5) I feel like my kids teachers and I are on the same team. 6) I’m excited for what my kids get to do each day more than I miss them. 7) my child going to the public school that studies outside on the prairie everyday now names all the trees on the way to school. She tells me about which flowers various birds and butterflies like. 8) our kids weren’t the sheltered-homeschooled kind. They are not shaken by seeing “the world” for the “first time.” 🙄 We tell them to be aware, but not be afraid. They have a big God. Plus, these were their friends before. We never spoke badly of other schools. I think that’s helped the transition. 9) I find myself more worried about potential bad theology in the Christian school than way out there worldly philosophies in the public school. Discussions will be ongoing, I’m sure. We’ve always parented a lot through discussions and that will continue. 11) I’m more aware than ever of how much my marriage needed this change. 10) I still don’t have regrets homeschooling. Looking back, God has guided us so gently to where we are now. 11) I’m enjoying not being both mom and teacher, and just being mom. 12) instead of hating them having homework, I’ve found it’s been a connection point to help me still feel involved, and has been helping me adjust. Once again, I’m reminded I don’t fit neatly into a “camp.” Public schooling, private schooling, homeschooling. People can’t trash stuff to me, and I think that makes some people uncomfortable. (Also please don’t trash schooling systems below. Pour that energy into loving the kids in your sphere of influence.)

I might have lived through a different pandemic than Martin here, but I think mobile morgue trucks, mass graves, overwhelmed hospitals with makeshift ICUs, and having families say their goodbyes over iPads were far more disturbing.

If you aren’t ready to affirm kids’ identities then you aren’t ready to be a parent, or a teacher. If they say they are queer, they are, your job as an adult is to support and offer tools, not to decide what they are for them. Most adults barely know who they are themselves 🤷🏽‍♀️.

My 9 year old has football practice every evening after school from 630-730. Is this normal? It shouldn’t be. There is ZERO value in that volume of practice for a 9 year old. It’s likely detrimental to their school/family life, not to mention burning them out on football.

@EM_RESUS @armyemdoc @jducanto can you run blood from a rapid infuser through an IO? Never seen it done before but would be curios and if so what is the flow rate

@armyemdoc @jducanto IO lines are amazing. Establishing them is almost never an issue. The problem in trauma specifically is that when access actually matters, it’s usually because the patient needs blood products—which are so viscous that their flow rate is terrible going through bone marrow.

A hypotensive trauma patient arrives in your ED without access, do you... (a) Go straight to IO (b) Attempt IV (c) Fumble around with a central line because you think you are faster than what you actually are A prospective study of 581 patients with 1410 attempts in @JTraumAcuteSurg found that IO was far superior in first-attempt access over IV and CVC (93% vs 67% vs 59%). journals.lww.com/jtrauma/Abstra… #emergency #emergencymedicine #icu #criticalcare #trauma #injury #foamed #foamcc #data #science #research #armyemdoc #medtwitter

@KadijahPorterMD You hit it right in the nails. Something is not right with this GME mob. PGY1 residents deserve no less than 100K. Some have criticized me for saying that. The value residents bring to these hospitals is worth more a lot more thank that minimum wage.

A better one. I worked 23 days as a moonlighting attending and made $53,000 before taxes. As a Cards PGY4, I make $74,000 a YEAR. As the driving force behind academic institutions, the ones with the longer days, and less time off. Residents and fellows deserve more money🤷🏽‍♀️

Would you be comfortable having an advanced nurse practitioner put in a new valve in your heart? Why or why not?
Mamas A. Mamas@mmamas1973

@GHCardiology this is so inappropriate on so many levels. Being a TAVR operator is not just about deploying a valve, but working up the pt for the optimal mx of their AS, managing the patient prior to procedure and dealing with complications. This is not safe for patients particularly given that there are numerous TAVI trained medically qualified operators in UK. You have also taken away training opportunities for medical / surgical trainees. @ncurzen @Ryvetsprog @pomyers @SVRaoMD @GreggWStone @VictorDayan1 @Hragy @mirvatalasnag @tavrkapadia @TAVRBot @TheBJCA @BCIS_uk @TCTMD @ajaykirtane @EAPCIPresident @alaide_chief
