@1ssve Trial shift as a waiter in an Italian restaurant in Melbourne, 1 hour in I spilt 3 pints of Peroni down a woman’s back as the tray tipped over… it was her 50th birthday celebration. Walked out 20 mins later! Silly tall pint glasses tbf

@100kDiary @financefraz I wonder if small amounts into these pies versus going into an all-world index is worth it? The relative ££ into these pies and then the delta difference you make in outperformance surely isn’t worth it? I’d be checking every 2 mins

@brokieinvestor @100kDiary Getting exposure to all world covers all bases really. Unless have some incredible conviction for a specific stock or sector then not worth the risk. Most asset managers never outperform the index and charge big fees for the privilege!!

@100kDiary I now have one position (all World ETF),so if it goes 🔴,I don't have other position that could hold me above water. But right now main goal is to build the foundation and habit.

@MelTradeOptions I feel like I started late because I think about the 10 lost years of compounding! But I'm grateful I've started when I did 👍🏻

A little post about me for anyone who's interested, as there's lots of new followers and I haven't done one of these before! I'm 36, married with 2 kids. I'm an M&E engineer by trade but now work in the financial side of construction, and have a small-holding at home that keeps me very busy. 🐐🐓🐑🐣🐕 I started full-time work at 16 because I knew I wanted to earn asap, but I only started investing at around 30. This came about a year after I met my wife and when things started getting serious, I quickly realised I needed to sort my finances out!! I had always earned well, and while never terrible with money, I had no plan and didn't know about investing. So, my money did nothing for 14 years. Actually, that's not true, I bought, renovated, and sold properties in that period. 🏡 This really set me up. So I had decent equity for my age, but... no liquidity or diversification I initially discovered investing through @DaveRamsey shorts and then got curious from there. While I don't agree with all his views on debt, I'm grateful that this was the start of my journey. Budgeting, increased earnings, regular investing, and a partner that shared my goals, have led me to my current portfolio in the space of around 6 years (not including property equity). Though this does include a couple of small workplace pensions I consolidated. Things were going well, and then I was made redundant in 2022 💀... This happened a few months after moving house and a few months before getting married. We had stretched to buy the house and get married in the same year, so we had £3k in savings, less than one months living expenses.... Squeaky bum time!! This was a wake-up call to step up my game... New job and upped my salary by £25k ✅️ 6 months emergency fund saved ✅️ Min 20% invested a month ✅️ Secondary source of income ✅️ Cleared all debt except the mortgage ✅️ Helped my wife negotiate a £10k rise ✅️ My life became a montage for a couple of years 😅. Plus, whilst financially recovering, my wife fell pregnant too because we enjoy playing life on hard mode. Anyway, it all worked out, and I decided to start posting on X in January 2026. This is because I had made all the usual financial and beginner investing mistakes, and so decided to share my journey to hopefully help others avoid the same. Plus the fact I didn't really know about investing until I was 30 is mental, and that was the main driver in creating this account, to hopefully help make others aware of how easily financial freedom can be achieved if you start young enough and keep it up consistently. When I first started X, my aim was to be strictly educational and almost show know personality. However I realised quite quickly that not only is that boring to keep up, but that X is all about community and connections, and that's what I've come to enjoy about it. It's been great getting to know everyone. That's enough from me 🫡

@UK_Compounder Nice one! Out of interest why go for the ETF and not the vanguard ftse all cap global index (OEIC)?

$VWRP Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (Accumulating) This fund tracks the FTSE All-World, the largest circa 3,800 large and mid-cap stocks across developed and emerging markets. 🔹️8-9% average annual returns (based on the FTSE all world index) 🔹️Low fund cost of 0.19% 🔹️P/E ratio of 23.0x 🔹️P/B of 3.4x 🔹️ROE at 18.7% 🔹️Earnings growth... 20.5% 🔹️Accumulating dividends! This is a very low effort fund with global diversification, great for "set and forget" style investing. Though it is still heavily weighted to the US, at about 60% allocation. The distributing version of this fund is ticker $VWRL I personally hold this fund in my SIPP as a long-term set and forget investment. #VWRP #ETF #VWRL

@2147mill Personally just sticking to the Vanguard ftse all-world, consistent circa 10% I can’t tell what’s going to outperform sector or country wise. Small VUAG too so heavy US. DCA versus all in is a psychological thing really isn’t it, all stats tell you lump in outperforms long term

@2147mill @Steve_BHAFC VWRP doesn’t give you exposure to small caps I don’t think? I opt for vanguard ftse global all cap instead. It’s an OEIC which has been annoying when trying to time a trade when market flips and flops daily just now! But a solid fund

I’d welcome some opinions on this please Currently in my pie I hold both VWRP (All world) and VUAG (SP500) They’re near enough the same fund (not quite) but I’m seriously considering removing VUAG as VWRP captures SP500 movement and reallocating more elsewhere, likely more into Gold / Silver / JEQP. Thoughts? Appreciate any feedback. trading212.com/pies/ltzntt0aH…

Most 18-39 year olds in the UK are sleeping on free money. The Lifetime ISA: → Save up to £4,000 a year → Government adds 25% instantly → That’s £1,000 free. Every single year → Invest it in stocks and it compounds tax free → Use it for your first home or retirement £4,000 becomes £5,000 before you’ve invested a single penny. No other account in the UK does this. Do you use a LISA?

@2147mill Do you opt for income funds or accumulation then? Accumulation you get the same return minus any cash drag if you forget to reinvest the income? I do like income though as makes you feel like you can see your returns!

Reinvested dividends buy more shares. More shares pay more dividends. More dividends buy even more shares. This loop is why dividend investors can retire on portfolios others would say are too small.

@claireindubai @dgpearce1000 I was due to move to Kuwait April last year - various reasons fell through but a big one was bringing my 2 dogs from UK. I genuinely ran the scenario in my head of what’s happening today…couldn’t leave them behind!

Dog dumping has started. We have 50! Split over 2 villas, boarding and a few in foster. This is absolutely unsustainable. Vets are reporting that they're getting 100s of calls about putting pets to sleep. 😭
