Musk’s lawyer is calmly eviscerating OpenAI’s President Greg Brockman, largely using Brockman’s own diaries and emails. For the first time I think Elon has a real chance of winning.

What a miss! I'm man enough to admit when my forecast was wrong. Today's "rainy day" ended up being a mostly dry, cool, cloudy day. The system tracked farther south, and much drier air spilled into North Texas which killed our rain chance and kept the rain in central and SETX.

(🧵1/10) With renewed attention on my recent @NewYorker reporting about Sam Altman and OpenAI, it's worth revisiting a piece I wrote for the magazine about another tech billionaire who has accumulated unusual leverage over the US government—and whose hand many readers have lately seen at work in their feeds. For that story, I spent months interviewing more than thirty of Elon Musk's current and former colleagues, along with current and former officials at NASA, the Department of Defense, the FAA, the Department of Transportation, and OSHA. Many of their observations have only grown more relevant since. Read the full investigation here: newyorker.com/magazine/2023/… And a thread on a few of its findings below.

@VigilantFox There should be no offer to clear names off of a list but there should be a deal tied to the prosecution of the guilty.

DISTURBING: Republicans are now openly debating whether to pardon convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, and the reasoning behind it is setting off alarms. Because if the case is “closed,” as officials claim, why is a pardon even being discussed at all? New reporting shows the House Oversight Committee is split, with some pushing clemency in exchange for Maxwell’s testimony, even as the DOJ insists there’s nothing left to investigate. At the same time, her legal team is offering cooperation, claiming she can “clear names” at the highest levels. That’s where it stops making sense. If there’s no active investigation, what exactly is she cooperating with? And if there is one, why would a pardon be necessary in the first place? Instead of full transparency, we’re getting talk of deals, selective disclosures, and a convicted trafficker being positioned as the gatekeeper to the truth. So what’s really going on here, a path to justice… or an excuse to close the door for good?

Unsupervised FSD already shipped. They just haven’t turned off the driver monitoring system yet (Remain vigilant and don’t become complacent until they do)
i like teslas@iliketeslas

I don’t know if Unsupervised FSD is coming next month or next year but I know that right now , if I could nap in my Cybertuck on FSD I would trust it no problem. There hasn’t been one slight instance this year when I felt unsafe. Not for a millisecond

POTUS is laying out two courses of action—a negotiated settlement, or a major escalation. There is a third option, and he should take it: recognize there is no way to force a positive outcome and simply leave. The region is not ours to fix. President Reagan chose this path in Lebanon in ‘84, withdrawing U.S. forces after the Beirut barracks bombing once it became clear the mission’s stabilization goals could not be met, effectively ending direct American military involvement and avoiding a deeper quagmire and long-term entrenchment in the region. A negotiated settlement is unlikely to work or be taken seriously by the Iranians unless we make concessions on the enrichment issue. As we saw yesterday in the SOH, the IRGC is empowered to act without the consent of the civilian leadership, so it’s likely they won’t honor any deal reached. A major escalation will lead to a very destructive outcome for Iran, the region, and eventually the U.S. If POTUS chooses brute force and targets civilian infrastructure, we will create another generation of radicalized Iranians who will rally around the regime and escalate the war by any means possible. If POTUS opts to strike the civilian infrastructure, declare victory, and then leave, we will only further erode our standing in the world, the petrodollar, and eventually our status as the world’s reserve currency holder. We need to get out now. Don’t double down on failure. Avoid the sunken cost trap, leave now, and put America’s interests first.

Cybercab has two seats because over 85% of car trips in North America have just one or two people. For the remaining 15% of trips that have more than two people, you'll be able to hail a Model Y robotaxi, or a couple of them, or just hop on in Robovan. Robovan will be best for cities/high population areas where you want to move a lot of people together. Cybercab will be fine for most use cases though.
