@ZeeContrarian1 Given the uncertainty in the timing, what duration would you consider trading the asymmetry via options?

$STAA might be the closest setup I’ve seen to $ZIM. The stock currently trades at $17.55 after not too long ago rejecting a $30.75 buyout offer-meaning that is what real industry juggernaut think it’s worth-at cycle low. The stock trades at cycle lows while clueless analysts covering it, just like those who covered $ZIM, focus on the current situation rather than the sum of the parts or what its main asset is worth to competitors. Meanwhile, an industry juggernaut tried to acquire the company at a 60% premium to the current market price and was rejected by large shareholders who believe it is worth much more. Broadwood, a major holder, has indicated there could be additional interest if a proper process is run. This is a company with a unique asset and a real moat that someone will always want to buy. At these levels, the stock looks like a gift. If a deal happens at a better point in the cycle, I think $35 to $40 per share is realistic over the next couple of years. Patience required. Timing uncertain. But the asymmetry is Portfolio allocation increased to 8%.

The Monetary Frontier posting. US equity is likely to trade off as the economy contracts. This is in the main tariffs and does not consider additional "Trump Risk".

$IWM - Largest trade since Dec 29, 2023, #31 came paired with another print (not pictured) that if traded together as a single trade instead of two, would have been the largest ever. Together they amounted to 5.7M shares @ roughly $1.2B. volumeleaders.com/register

$VRNA - Pretty typical response for such size at such an extended price. Overshoot and then price resolves lower.

$TMF (3x $TLT) - A week or so ago, we go the #5 print at a swing high. It arrived as a dark pool sweep, suggesting both urgency and a desire to remain concealed. When DP sweeps print w/ size, they are among the most immediately actionable trades. Given the price action that preceded, it was pretty clear (to me, at least), that it was directionally bearish. If it wasn't clear to you, that's okay. Interpreting this data takes some practice. Until then, we have a room full of nerds that are happy to help. It wasn't long before price reversed and began trending lower. At the time, I thought #5 was a long exit. But now I think it was a short position. Here's why. Yesterday we got a trade (#12) of the exact same share size (637,300) near this swing low. VL enthusiast @jer_gas was quick to notice this fact and share it with the team. Since we knew the same size trade appeared at the high a few days earlier, we could surmise that the two trades were related. If related, one had to be an open and one had to be a close. It only made sense that #5 was the open (short) and that #12 was the close (cover). Who cares, VL? Why does this matter? Context. That's why. By inferring that #12 is a short cover, and not a new long or a new short, one can anticipate a weak bounce and continuation lower. That's the hallmark of covering. Just enough buying to interrupt the trend, but not enough to change it. I was able to use that knowledge to my advantage by taking a quick long off #12, but not holding more than a few hours. I was confident I'd get something, but probably not much. That's exactly what happened. But the most important detail from all this was that I was then able to infer that we'd make another low...and that if we were to see another large print, odds favor that print to be buying. That's the print I want to trade against and hold. That came today with #13. And wouldn't you know it, that was also the same share size as #12 and #5. I think this is the same guy entering and exiting (and entering again). Maybe 637,300 is his lucky number or his locker combination or maybe June 3, 1973 is his wife's birthday. I don't know. But, somehow this exact size is important to him, and we can tie these trades together. To summarize: I think he shorted #5. I think he covered #12. I think he longed #13. All circumstantial. Can't prove any of it. Wouldn't hold up in court, or in an argument with your spouse. But I think it's a little too coincidental to be ignored. #13 is at $41.66 and price chopped all over it today (image 2). Nothing has been settled, and longs aren't safe unless it trades above and stays above. While not ideal, a bit of undershoot could be tolerated...but not much. The outcome that makes the most sense to me is a move higher from here. Whether we get it remains to be seen. And just to be clear, this is not a long term projection. We're talking about leverage here, and the underlying has been fairly quiet. So if we get a move higher, I don't think it's a direct path to $TLT 100. Just...higher from here. Then we'll see. volumeleaders.com/register

The start of 2025 has been challenging, marked by a plethora of economic and market outlooks, including concerns over inflation, deficits, index concentration, geopolitics, and global risks. Current valuations and market positioning are more demanding than in early 2023 and 2024, making tactical market navigation increasingly difficult. However, if you look at YTD performance, the best defense has become the best offense.
