I wonder if this same judge accused Starmer of contempt of court when he potentially prejudiced hundreds of cases by repeatedly going on live TV to wrongly ascribe a "far-right" political motive to Southport riots defendants before their trials had taken place? I'm guessing not.

I lost my beloved daughter Grace O’Malley-Kumar in the Nottingham attacks. She was a 19 year old medical student. She fought a marauding man almost twice her age armed with a dagger. She tried to protect a friend and paid the ultimate price. She placed, ‘friendship before fear’ #graceomalleykumarfoundation #graceomalleykumarcup

Last week I was sent an image of a pro-Palestine stall at Cambridge Market Square. Not angry students. Not masked radicals. Rather elderly white women encouraging strangers to boycott Israel. So yesterday I went to Cambridge to hear what they were selling. Thread ⬇️⬇️

The biggest part of this rape story by gypsy boys in the UK was completely overlooked. Two attacks by three boys from the “traveller community” (aged 13-14): 1. In November 2024, a 15 year old girl arranged to meet a boy for a date. Or so she thought. The girl was ambushed and raped three times. The assault was filmed and video shared on social media, showing the boys laughing as they raped her. 2. On January 17, 2025 a 14 year old girl (“Olivia”) was threatened with a knife, taken to a field in Fordingbridge and overpowered by a groups of boys. One boy raped her while it was recorded. They were convicted of 10 rape charges at Southampton Crown Court and in May 2026 they were sentenced to Youth Rehabilitation Orders (otherwise known as counselling) and walked free from the court. They had to pay the standard £26 surcharge. This case was talked about this week because of the surcharge (standard in all cases)) but there is a far bigger issue that was not mentioned. One of the boys had been reported multiple times for sexual assaults and rape from the age of 10. He was still at primary school and raping girls. There was another rape report about him just 10 days before the first attack above. And yet, there was no custodial sentence given. Why not? What does a boy have to do to get more than a slap on the wrist in the UK? Judge Nicholas Rowland said he wanted to “avoid criminalising these children unnecessarily” but why? They are criminals. If they are old enough to rape then they are old enough to face the consequences.

🚨 Iran’s regime has UPHELD the death sentence against engineer Zahra Tabari, 68, for holding a banner reading “Woman, Resistance, Freedom.” She faces imminent hanging after a sham retrial presided over by the son of the judge who initially sentenced her. #SaveZahraTabari Arrest and Background Zahra Tabari, 68, is an electrical engineer holding a Master’s degree in sustainable energy from the University of Borås in Sweden. She worked for 30 years as a specialist for the Gilan Electricity Administration. Security agents raided her home in Rasht in April 2025 without a judicial warrant, confiscating personal electronics and placing her in solitary confinement for a month. She had previously been targeted by the regime in June 2022, when she was arrested for social media posts and sentenced to 18 months under house arrest with an electronic tag. She is currently being held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, where she suffers from chronic health conditions exacerbated by a lack of proper medical care and constant psychological pressure. The Evidence and Charges The Iranian authorities charged her with armed rebellion (Baghi) and maintaining ties with the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI or MEK). The sole physical evidence brought against her was a piece of cloth found in her possession bearing the slogan "Woman, Resistance, Freedom"—which authorities claim she intended to use as a banner to challenge their rule—alongside an unsent audio message on her phone. The Judicial Farce: Trial and Retrial On 25 October 2025, Branch 1 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by the notorious judge Ahmad Darvish-Goftar, sentenced her to death. The sentence was decided before the proceedings even finished; the trial itself was a sham 10-minute session held via video conference, during which she was denied her chosen legal representation and given a state-appointed lawyer who endorsed the prosecution's guilty verdict. Following widespread global protests—including an urgent appeal by over 400 prominent international women leaders, Nobel laureates, and former heads of state—the Supreme Court theatrically referred her case for a retrial. However, the case was sent to Branch 2 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, which is presided over by Mohammad Ali Darvish-Goftar—the son of the original judge, Ahmad Darvish-Goftar. Unsurprisingly, this branch rubber-stamped the original ruling on 14 April 2026, re-sentencing her to death on identical charges. This final verdict was officially served to her this past week. International Reaction United Nations human rights experts have explicitly condemned the initial proceedings, demanding that Iran immediately halt the execution. Eight members of the UN Special Procedures noted in a joint statement on 23 December 2025 that her case shows a pattern of severe violations of international fair trial guarantees and constitutes an inappropriate use of capital punishment for ill-defined national security offences. Because the case involves no intentional killing, the UN experts warned that executing Ms Tabari would amount to an arbitrary execution. CC: @drmaisato

Great piece by @FraserNelson in today’s Times. This sentence in particular stood out: “Left or right, nationalist or unionist, populist or centrist: all know that the welfare state needs to go back to what it was originally built upon. That is: support should be a bridge back into life, not a destination.” Fraser deserves huge credit for championing this issue over many years, and I hope Alan Milburn’s interim report encourages all parties to begin focusing on a unified approach to welfare reform and tackling the NEETs crisis over the summer.
Fraser Nelson@FraserNelson

The Milburn review doesn't expose the flaws behind Neets: it's a case for the wholesale reform of a failing welfare state. My Times column on what could be a rare moment for change:- times-comment.com/am12

Last time I ran the figures, in a single 12 month period Britain handed out 133 visas to aerospace engineers, 47 to midwives, and 41 to architects: fewer combined than to chefs (724) or “packers, bottlers, canners and fillers” (346).

Exactly right. The Starmer-Streeting-Burnham plan to align ever closer to the EU has already been achieved in one important respect — for the first time this century we now have European levels of youth unemployment. Indeed we’re above the average for EU and EZ. Congrats.
Institute of Economic Affairs@iealondon

📉 "People used to draw a big contrast between youth unemployment in southern Europe and the United Kingdom. We had a flexible labour market and a booming hospitality sector. And now we're hitting double digits." @doktor_val warns Britain is becoming the thing we used to criticise about Spain.

@GBNEWS I can’t listen to this! Henry said: “I’ve been stabbed”. The reply (played in court) was: “I don’t think you have mate”, not: “Where have you been stabbed?” The police didn’t check.

Justice for Henry Nowak
Justice for Henry Nowak@reformletsgoooo·
As a former police officer, former Police Federation representative, and former lay magistrate (Justice of the Peace), I am profoundly disturbed by the circumstances surrounding the death of Henry Nowak. An 18-year-old male, suffering from multiple visible puncture wounds to the abdomen, reportedly informed attending officers that he had been stabbed and was struggling to breathe. Despite this, he remained restrained until he collapsed. He later died from his injuries. The suggestion that he “would have died anyway”, or that officers were merely “misled”, raises extremely serious concerns regarding operational judgement, prioritisation, and the discharge of the police’s most fundamental duty: the preservation of life. Where a detainee presents with obvious and potentially catastrophic injuries, officers are under a clear duty to respond with urgency, caution, and immediate medical intervention. If the reported facts are accurate, there appear to have been grave failures in that duty. Having once worn the uniform myself, I find the allegations deeply troubling. Public confidence in policing depends upon accountability, professionalism, and the proper exercise of duty under pressure. Those standards appear, at the very least, to warrant rigorous independent scrutiny in this case. In my view, the conduct of the attending officers should be subject to full investigation for potential gross negligence manslaughter, alongside consideration of gross misconduct proceedings where appropriate. The Independent Office for Police Conduct must carry out a thorough, fearless, and fully transparent investigation. Given the seriousness of the allegations and the level of public concern, there is also a compelling case for a wider public inquiry into whether any systemic or institutional failings contributed to this tragedy. Henry Nowak should not have died in handcuffs while reportedly pleading for help. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

I naively assumed that police officers, when confronted with someone who denies doing a stabbing, might be sceptical rather than just accept it as true. Particularly when there’s a dying person also there who is saying “I’ve been stabbed”.
Hampshire Police@HantsPolice

@smg1664 Our officers were misled at the scene, including denial of weapon use. They quickly switched to life-saving aid within minutes but, as laid out in our statement, the medical evidence shows that the injuries were not survivable. A very sad case, our thoughts are with his family.

Dries Van Langenhove
Dries Van Langenhove@DVanLangenhove·
A very sad announcement. I have just been convicted a second time for 'hate speech' and it is only due to a technicality that I could not immediately be sent to jail —to the judge's frustration. In an ironic turn of events it's actually thanks to my previous prison sentence (for memes in a private group chat) that I am now still free —in a physical sense, at least. Call me naive but I didn't think they would take it this far, given that this precedent criminalises many of the arguments used by even the most moderate politicians critical of mass migration. In February 2024 I gave a lecture at Catholic University Leuven wherein I linked mass migration to crime and a deterioration of our quality of life. Every single point I made was 100% the truth and based on scientific evidence. Cynically, even the judge that convicted me admits as much by writing in his verdict: “Even if all of the statements made by Van Langenhove are based on scientific evidence and statistics, it makes no difference to the criminal intent. Van Langenhove is not charged with spreading false information. He is charged with presenting facts in a way that incites hatred against persons on the grounds of one or more of the protected criteria in the Anti-Racism Law.” That's a lot of words just to say he wants to send me to prison for speaking the truth. Even the regime media write: "It did not matter to the court that Van Langenhove was quoting scientific sources. The judge argued that Van Langenhove's main message was that a big part of the societal problems like insecurity, housing shortages and lowering educational standards are due to mass migration." You may think the regime media are being sympathetic to me in the first sentence, but in reality they are warning people: even if you speak the truth, if you go against our narrative, we will crush you in every way possible. Both the public prosecutor and the judge did not present a single real argument as to how or against whom I would have incited hatred. So even if I would accept their crazy, dystopic law, I still did not break it. The only argument they present is that I created a "hostile atmosphere of us versus them” in regards to migrants. But even this silly argument (which is not even a punishable offence) is not true. To me, the deadly disease is self-hatred and one of its worst symptoms is replacement migration. My enemy is thus NOT the migrants themselves but those orchestrating the mass migration. Sadly, in Belgium, evidence is not needed and ‘vibes’ are enough to put someone in jail. Given the fact that I have another court case coming up in September and that I have a dozen active criminal investigations for hate speech, time is running out for me. I have already paid more than €420,000 in legal fees and there is no ending in sight. I have been in an intense battle of attrition for eight years and must now regroup to make sure I can still win. If you want to help me, you can do so via the links below. If you can help in other ways, please contact me via DM. If you live in a country that still has free speech, never let them touch it, however noble they make the motives sound, because this is where it leads to.
