Everything’s lining up for an absolutely epic period in crypto 1) buying infrastructure mature (including Bitcoin ETFs) 2) persistent inflation 3) improving macro liquidity 4) Bitcoin halving 5) anti-woke backlash 6) early crypto users now have money 7) stock market overvalued

I went home recently to write about Alberta’s separatists. What I found was a movement dangerously, wildly disconnected from what is real.

@MPelletierCIO @acoyne I wonder if his prescription to cure Canada’s ills will be as enlightened as his approach in the past: vote for the Green Party. Coyne likes to complain about many things, shouting at the clouds, but he’s a part of the problem, really.

Approval of the Sunrise natural gas expansion project is good news for BC jobs. It will also strengthen BCs role as an engine for a more independent Canadian economy – delivering affordable energy people rely on and powering growth in major industries. cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…

@coreyhoganyyc With judges getting increasingly wacky with creative interpretations of the charter, there will need to be ever more uses of the notwithstanding clause.

Three more things Peter Lougheed said about using the notwithstanding clause: 1⃣ "A simple majority does not appear adequate." 2⃣ "In my mind, [pre-empting judicial review] is undemocratic." 3⃣ “I would hope that the notwithstanding clause would be used very, very rarely.” Unfortunately, the Alberta government invoked the notwithstanding clause four times in the last year, each time pre-emptively, and each time with a simple majority, rather than the higher 60% threshold Lougheed preferred. Nobody is suggesting removing the notwithstanding clause. There are complicated constitutional issues at play but it is inaccurate and misleading to imply Peter Lougheed would support its use in a way he explicitly said he opposed. The courts are the appropriate place for these arguments.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

The Notwithstanding Clause is integral to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and an unassailable provincial constitutional right. Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed insisted it be included to protect the autonomy of provinces to uphold the values and priorities of the people they represent from decisions of activist courts. In Alberta, we have used it carefully and lawfully to stand up for the parental right to be involved in their children’s lives, to protect children so they can make important health decisions as adults, to ensure fairness in sport, and to keep students learning in the classroom. We are extremely disappointed that Minister Sean Fraser would risk national unity and a foundational principle of our constitution by attempting to attack the use of the notwithstanding clause by sovereign provincial governments.

British Columbians are deeply disturbed to see President Trump threaten “a whole civilization.” We want the people of Iran to be free from Iran’s oppressive regime. Threatening innocent Iranians does not achieve that goal.

And it’s not my job to pay your salary, it’s the job of your employer Can someone please explain the strange US 20–25% tipping culture? Many countries around the world don’t have tipping as a common practice. The business simply pays the salary. Why is it so different in the US?

Vail’s Epic Pass transformed the ski industry’s business model. But with stalled revenue growth, overcrowded mountains, and declining snowfall, Vail’s stock is now down 55% over the last 5 years — compared to a 70% gain for the S&P 500. READ: huddleup.substack.com/p/inside-vail-…

@Prominent_Bryan Trudeau was broadly and intensely despised in Alberta. It makes sense that anybody who is not Trudeau would do materially better. Carney not out of the woods, though - “all talk” will need to yield to some kind of well-received action at some point.

@kaufmanedaniel Good ideas. If the parking at the base is going to be replaced by public transport it’s a major point of risk as it’s got to be GREAT. If people have to wait an hour for a bus that will ruin everything. Walkable villages are great fun (e.g. Whistler).

Skiing has never been more popular… yet the ski experience keeps getting worse. Crowds, $300 lift tickets, and workers who can’t afford to live in mountain towns. In my latest post I break down what’s broken in the ski industry — and how we’d build a resort differently today. And yes… we may actually be working on something. …ufmanrealestatedeveloper.blogspot.com/2026/03/whats-… ⛷️🏔️

Lethbridge is a city that feels like it hasn't changed much in the last 30 years. I am sure the locals would differ with me. On that though. It's a nice city but has always had a rough edge. Used to be a couple bars in these closed buildings I patronized long ago. They had cheap beer but you wanted to sit with your back to the wall.

The “Rules Based Order” was simply US hegemony in practice (might is right, with US might being supreme and making the Rules). Now that China (with its own allies) challenges the US, its still might is right, but without the US acting as the universal global boss - more players on the field.
