@La30784Patricia @WeberingHeights @ryanhallyall hey patricia! unlike other current broadcasts, there's always a state indicator when we're looking at the radar. we do our best to have data be referable when realtime info is needed! a tweet about a visit doesn't require this, but he'll be more cognizant in the future

English

@WeberingHeights @ryanhallyall @BluekandyWX Each state is fairly small in land mass. We have cities and small counties.
Hard to comprehend the scale of larger states across the US. It wasn’t a political statement and I wasn’t trying to be snarky.
I’m also married and Christian. Peace.

When you see a Tornado Watch on your phone, this is the room it came from. Got to visit the Storm Prediction Center in Norman and talk about the future of weather forecasting with the team for hours. Unreal experience with Andy @BluekandyWX

English

@progged @ryanhallyall it's one of the few designs still on shopryanhall! I also brought my nader juice shirt, which is not available anymore lol
English

@BluekandyWX @WestonBrya27345 @ryanhallyall you think i have zero value as a person when you have a mental illness and dress up in furry costumes 😭😭😭
English

We literally stood in a circle with these meteorologists and talked for 2.5 hours, and could've kept going. How cool is that?? These avenues of communication are what I live for I think, my mind is racing with so much potential. I'm genuinely excited

We had an absolute blast geeking out with NWS Springfield today with @BluekandyWX
English

@WestonBrya27345 @hollywoodszn @ryanhallyall actually I took it as a form of endearment :) why else would they take the time if they had any value as a person? haha
English

@hollywoodszn @ryanhallyall @BluekandyWX You’re a disgraceful human being and should be ashamed of yourself. Andy has done nothing wrong to you and you still hate for no reason? Shows what kind of human being you are. Andy is proud of who he is and expresses that. Why does that have to affect you? I hope you find peace.

@Wx_Stick93 Even the notion of you bringing us up in passing is useful, so I appreciate that. We were just at OUN and a lead forecasted there was only a little familiar with us, so every bit counts
English

@BluekandyWX I get what you mean and I would add that, outside of myself and our younger forecasters, I don't know who all knows of you guys. I can't say a lot of our weather and the reports we get from chasers has really overlapped with you just out of chance. All good from here!
English

@Wx_Stick93 Honestly it's bad of me to put it that way because the last little bit has been overwhelmingly positive and we need healthy criticism in building connections like the last couple days
English

@BluekandyWX I don't know what the opinion is on "Y'all" in the office, but I can always just ask.
English

@CameronJNixon @ryanhallyall I saw you walk by back there! I'm looking forward to hanging out this May if I get out with the group again :) definitely need some less intense trips lol
English

@ryanhallyall @BluekandyWX Awwe I love this ❤️ Y'all got to meet some of my closest friends here too. Sorry I didn't come say hey, y'all were looking really intense when I popped out 🤣🤣
English

@AriWeather there's a heck of a good reason why he passed my weather analyst test with flying colors. he's a part of the small team I've curated that I trust in a real time environment to produce quality information like we do. I look for people passionate about niches, this is why!
English

This kid lives, breathes, eats, sleeps tornado damage. I'm so consistently impressed by his work Mark my words this is the next Ted Fujita.. By 2035 it will be called the EK scale
Nick Krasznavolgyi@NickKrasz_Wx
The Lake Village, Indiana tornado (on the Illinois side) looped at this location due to *another* satellite tornado, but this one was anticyclonic! The parent circulation was drawn towards the anticyclonic meso and that's what allowed it to loop. You can tell it's anticyclonic based on radar data, as well as the cycloidal markings (in result of sub-vortices) facing the opposite way.
English

@Wx_Stick93 Lol I wish, but going to all of them would be info overload. We gotta get stuff done first in line with who we've talked to so far. I would be so happy to go to midland for you though if they like us there
English

@BluekandyWX You guys going on a tour of offices or something?
English

@ryanhallyall The weatherfolk at the SPC are so in touch and motivated to carry out our common goal that the conversations we had were intense and elevated. They were ready to have us there and to work with us just as much as we were ready to drive their messaging further. Unforgettable!
English

@thebutcher854 This means all the sources for dissecting and disseminating weather info are capped in resolution (and thus accuracy) by current CPU/GPU/memory limitations. Once those lift, models become more granular and so does AI. So meteorologists' abilities move at similar speeds, for now!
English

@thebutcher854 In 2020 when I was finishing my degree, my professor asked the same thing after every section we finished, well before the AI boom. My answer was personality can't be replaced, but in general, AI can't succeed more than the current computational cap can for model data!
English

@capitalweather small correction: the tornado risk (15 CIG1) is only enhanced (3/5) in the new system, not 4/5. It wasn't communicated well as a result, since it was maintained as a driving risk factor.
English

⚠️ Why the storm forecast that scared D.C. fell short
Monday brought one of the most ominous severe weather forecasts in years, including a rare Level 4 out of 5 risk for damaging winds and tornadoes.
Schools dismissed early and plans changed but while there were indeed many reports of severe weather (111 severe wind reports), some of the most feared impacts never materialized.
Here’s what happened:
• Limited storm fuel: Thick cloud cover held temperatures down, reducing the instability needed for widespread severe storms
• Early storms “used up” energy: A late-morning line likely “stole the second round’s thunder”
• Downdrafts couldn’t get going" Moist air near the surface limited the ability for strong winds aloft to reach the ground
At the same time, the concern was justified. The setup had the ingredients for dangerous storms, and had those ingredients come together differently, the outcome could have been far worse.
But this event also highlights something important:
👉 We need to do a better job communicating uncertainty.
Severe storms are highly sensitive to small changes. Even with strong signals, they’re not guaranteed. That nuance didn’t come through clearly enough.
Forecasting severe weather remains one of meteorology’s hardest challenges — and this was a reminder that how we communicate risk is just as important as the forecast itself.
