@JonathanJWalsh They have well and truly and unfortunately that means some of them will have to be let go I suspect because the experienced players we have are not helping the kids at all we need to target experienced players from successful clubs to help our youngsters develop properly

@Bluey1834 I want to see a competitive and consistent effort every week. I just don’t think this team is up for it. I had hoped for more from our more experienced players this season but they’ve been exposed.

Relatively meaningless stats. Essendon is the only team not to have played a Bottom 4 team in 2026. One of only 4 teams to have only played 2 bottom 8 teams. We’ve played 5 of the current Top 8. Equal most with the Bulldogs (Dogs also 1-4 with a worse %).

Jordan Ridley came off 2 mins into the 3rd Qtr on Saturday. Suns then kicked 7 goals from that 2 min period on in that 3rd Qtr. Prior was actually a big loss in the end as he would have likely been able to settle back 6 a bit quicker

Training Report – 9th April 2026 Blustery and windy conditions made for a challenging main session today, with a continued focus on pressure and ball movement in a match simulation setting. Ridley got through the session without any issues and looks set to play. Sharp ran at training for the first time (since I’ve attended) after rolling his ankle; however, he still appeared slightly proppy and is likely to miss this week. Fiorini did not train, instead completing walking laps alongside Redman. McGrath left the track towards the end of the session and also looked proppy, hopefully just a knock rather than anything more serious. It was great to see NGA prospect Blake Justice doing some running with Vigo, helping build connection with the group. He’s currently rehabbing a hamstring injury but remains a very exciting young talent. Fellow NGA players Koby Bewick and Tevita Rodan observed training from the balcony at the Hangar. Nick Bryan had a very light session, while Jones watched on from the boundary. Hayes trained in the green cap. Setterfield completed the majority of the session and impressed during match simulation. His leadership stood out and was clearly noticeable. @FlightPlanPod Let’s be honest we aren’t getting a star FA agent it’s just not going to happen this year but what we can get is some experienced players which we really need to help these kids develop a player like Rampe would be perfect former captain and premiership player & would cost nothin

It's shaping up to be a dismal Dons season, which will impact our opportunity to lure trade & FA signings. In all honesty, based on the opening month of footy, all we can offer is huge $$$. However, if we can showcase that our youngsters are capable of becoming stars in the future. We also need our mid-tier players can make the jump from B/C to A grade - Essendon is a hard sell. As it stands right now, our Zak/c targets Butters & Bailey would have to be insane to nominate us on current form and who could begrudge that? Ostensibly, we have 20 rounds of footy to show we're working hard to shift perceptions and *finally* building a balanced list from the ground up

@JamesLowrie24 Nigel Lappin is easily the best Development coach in the league and would have ties with Brad if he’s still there he’s the one they should be making a massive play at

My Wishlist for Essendon this off season apart from picking up 5 A Graders is get the best development coaches in the industry and at least one assistant from a successful environment

After this weekends results I’m giving Essendon a mulligan. They have next week to redeem themselves. No excuses but to come out breathing fire and put in a 4 quarters of pure effort.

@Shayno63 No conundrum at all Redman is a back flanker , McGrath back pocket Robert’s yes learning his craft in there and Clarke is way way to light he’s years of midfield time Kako and Sharp definitely in the rotation

An interesting conundrum I have , is Jye Caldwell in our best 23 ? Our starting midfield should be , Merrett , Durham , Parish , through in Sharpe , Kako , Caddy , Roberts , MCGrath , Redman , Clarke and others . He is just not consistent enough for me .
