@TheRefsView Criticism of refs is fair. Threats to a man & his family are vile. The false equivalence with players & managers is nonsense. Refs r there to uphold the laws of the game. Players & managers spend 90mins trying to stretch them. For ex-refs to blur that line is beyond reprehensible

Those managers are sacked, those goalkeepers and strikers get dropped. Your referees fail upwards and are given games every week after making regular mistakes. We condone and abhor any personal abuse and threats aimed towards referees as everyone should.

@EwenDCameron You are an embarrassment Ewan, you have used your platform to incite anger and hatred towards a human being for doing his job. Hang your head in shame, your parasitic behaviour as endangered the wellbeing of a man and his family. What concequences will you face?

🚨SFA STANDS BY JOHN BEATON This season has been an utter embarrassment and last night was the tipping point. I’ve never seen a decision, in Scottish football, to be so widely condemned and this should be a watershed moment for our national game All fans should unite against Temu VAR and the poor refereeing standards. And before anyone says it….YES….I’m very aware that Hearts have benefitted from some poor decisions this season. However, we need to look at the bigger picture here and demand change. A good start would be… …SACK WILLIE COLLUM.

Reported by @Telegraph that the Scottish FA regard the decision to award Celtic's penalty at Fir Park as correct. Head of Referees Willie Collum will address the situation in the VAR Review Show next week.

The test of whether a man is reasoning or rationalising is simple. Show him two pieces of evidence pointing in opposite directions. Watch which one he treats as proof and which one he treats as noise. Last night was that test, played out in real time, in front of every viewer in the country. Two incidents in the same match. The same standard of evidence on the replay. One treated as outrage. One treated as if it never happened. The footage did not pick a side. The men describing it did. A fact chosen to win an argument has stopped being a fact. It is a prop. And the moment a man starts selecting his evidence by outcome, he is no longer analysing anything. He is defending a verdict he reached before he sat down. There are only two explanations. He cannot see the contradiction, which is incompetence. Or he can, and is hoping you can’t, which is bias. Neither flatters him. Both have been on display for years. Last night just made the costume slip. The replay closes the question of the penalty. The reaction closes the question of the men paid to comment on it.

Scottish football club Celtic FC will wear a commemorative shirt in their title decider tomorrow to remember the mass starvation that led to the deaths of millions of Irish people in the 1840s and 1850s

It’s not a penalty and the world knows it. There’s no debate to be had. It’s a header. The ref and VAR have, and not for the first time this season, had a major say in the outcome of a game. The world of football is laughing at us. As for the pictures that ‘conclusively show it struck the hand?’ Give me a break ffs. The pics circling, from the side where the hand is raised, will always look as if it struck the hand. It didn’t. I’ve attached pics, as an example, of how a picture can trick you into seeing something you want to see. So the pics circling can go in the bin. The issue here is Beaton and Dallas and how they gave a penalty decision from one view of the incident. It’s scandalous. Scottish football needs to unite and tell TEMU VAR to GTF.

@TEnglishSport Some great work seizing the narrative Tom. The BBC has learned some great stuff from their Israeli puppeteers.

Late finish. Profoundly grim that a penalty could be given for that and in those circumstances. A shocking call.

The refs verdicts are in: “Bobby Madden, was that a penalty?”. “No”. “Steve Conroy, was that a penalty?”. “No”. Both damning on the decision, calling for an explanation from the SFA. Their verdicts, not mine.
martin geissler@mmgeissler

Going on air on @BBCRadioScot in 15 mins. Yes, yes we will be talking about that penalty. Quite a lot, I think. Former grade 1 referee Bobby Madden will be summoned to deliver a verdict at 07.15… we’ll take it from there.

Wow the VAR pen in the Celtic game is again. One of the worst decisions of all time. 🗑️ You don’t get that much power with your hand. It hits his forehead 💯 Again the ref did NOT give it on field. So according to law. “It’s not clear and obvious” 🗑️

Barry Ferguson bringing down the Aberdeen player in on goal in the Rangers box - no penalty awarded. And the Ricksen kick, which the referee missed even though he was looking straight at it. Ref: Mike McCurry. (Now Rangers podcaster)

@mstewart_23 The problem with saying things in the public domain is you need to be consistent Michael. Bias shows otherwise, AJ being sent off won’t help Hearts win the league. Beating Celtic will. Can you do that?

To hear some people say the follow through doesn’t matter is like going back 20 years. Couldn’t believe what I heard on commentary “where’s he meant to put his foot?” You’re not allowed to jump into a tackle and have a follow through like that plain and simple. Terrible VAR!

A good many people feared VAR/officiating would have a huge part to play in the title race. Hopefully it isn’t decisive but deary me. How the VAR can look at the replays and not see a red card has occurred is wild.
