We are proud to share our latest study published in Science. After achieving efficient and clinical feasible microglia replacement for the first time in 2020 (PMID: 32783928), we applied this strategy to treat a severe and fatal neurological disease, ALSP, and observed remarkable therapeutic effects—not only in the mouse model, but also in clinical trials involving 8 individuals with ALSP and up to 24 months of follow-up. This marks the first-in-human clinical application of microglia replacement therapy and suggesting its therapeutic effects in more neurological diseases. Check out the study at science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Thank you for sharing our microglia replacement study! In 2020, we achieved efficient microglia replacement for the first time (PMID: 32783928). After that, we took another 5 five years to demonstrate its clinical feasibility and efficacy (PMID: 40638739). We truly believe that microglia replacement holds far-reaching potential for treating a wide range of neurological diseases. Let’s change the world and make this happen!

I’m happy to be selected as a shortlisted finalist in neuroscience for the 2026 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 @Takeda @Nature, in recognition of my pioneering contributions to 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. This award celebrates groundbreaking research by early career scientists who are advancing the frontiers of scientific discovery in the areas of gastrointestinal and inflammatory diseases, neuroscience, and oncology. Takeda will award three category winners – one from each area of focus – in February, and one grand prize winner in April. I’m honored to receive this recognition and I’m excited to participate in Nature’s career development programs, while building meaningful connections with my peer awardees. nature.com/immersive/inno… linkedin.com/company/takeda… linkedin.com/company/nature…
