It was a pleasure meeting with Rabbi Moshe Azman, the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, who invited me to his Chabad synagogue in Kyiv to have a lovely Kosher dinner.
Rabbi Azman has 12 kids, and one of his sons was a soldier in the Ukrainian army and he was killed by Russians in battle.
Before coming to Ukraine, I believed that Ukraine’s Army was full of Nazis in the Azov Battalion. I once even called Zelenskyy a self hating Nazi Jew because I thought the Ukrainian Army was all a bunch of Nazis.
I admit, I fell for Russian propaganda.
Upon visiting Ukraine, I learned that Ukraine actually has stronger anti-Semitism laws than the US and it’s illegal in Ukraine to own Nazi relics. You can be arrested and jailed in Ukraine for promoting Third Reich materials and Nazism or Islamic terrorism. That means Ukraine has stronger anti-Semitism laws than the United States!
You’d never know if you were consuming Russian propaganda and believing Putin’s lie about the need to “denazify Ukraine”.
The Rabbi told me his dead Jewish son didn’t fight alongside Nazis.

U.S.–RUSSIA DIPLOMACY RETURNS. WHAT COMES NEXT?
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, reopening diplomatic channels after the U.S. had suspended relations with Russia at the start of the Ukraine conflict. The meeting raises a bigger question: is this the start of real de-escalation, or just a new round of strategic maneuvering?
At the same time, media outlets are trying to frame Russia as helping Iran launch strikes against U.S. targets. That accusation only adds more pressure to an already volatile global situation.
