In the US, you can buy this thing and fly it tomorrow without a pilot's license. The Jetson ONE slots into FAA Part 103, a 1982 rule that lets you skip the license, the registration, the medical exam, and even the safety certificate normal aircraft need. The trade is hard limits: single seat, under 254 pounds empty, top speed under 63 mph, daylight only, no flying over towns or any gathering of people. Jetson built the ONE to sit exactly inside those limits. It weighs 190 pounds empty and is software-locked at 63 mph. For your $148K (the price went up from $128K in November 2025), you get eight electric motors, a 13.5 kWh battery, about 17 minutes of flight, and a 10.5-mile range at cruise. Max altitude is 1,500 feet. The aircraft can keep flying if one motor dies, lands itself using radar, and has an emergency parachute big enough to bring the whole machine down softly. Production is sold out for 2026 and 2027, so if you order today the earliest you get one is 2028. The first customer was Palmer Luckey, who founded Oculus and the defense company Anduril. He took delivery in California last September and learned to fly in under 50 minutes of ground training. Jetson now has 650+ orders on the books, worth around $100 million. For comparison, the cheapest "real" helicopter is a used Robinson R22 starting around $100K. On top of that, you still need a Private Pilot License: at least 40 hours of training and around $15K. The Jetson ONE skips that whole stack by sitting inside a 44-year-old loophole originally written for hang gliders. In December, Tomasz Patan, the founder, took off from a residential driveway in Pismo Beach and flew low along the California coast for MrBeast's cameras. The episode dropped in January and pulled 115 million views in three months. A hundred million people just got their first mental picture of what personal flight actually looks like.
