People seem to think Russian denial of Mongolian influence comes from a place of butthurt. Maybe it does for liberasts, I for one respect the Mongols as gigachad conquerors. But I see no evidence that they had a lasting *cultural* impact. Their influence was (geo-)political.

В Сенате Узбекистана озвучили идею изменения герба страны. Из него предложили убрать изображения хлопка и пшеницы. Эти аграрные символы связывают с идеологией советского прошлого, но сейчас они больше не отражают идентичность РУз и ее нынешние национальные устремления в будущее.

Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works. Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this." That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door. Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply. Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.

🇬🇧🇺🇦🇷🇺 Another British citizen has died in the war in Ukraine. 23-year-old Ayrton Redfern from South Devon died on May 9 in the Donetsk region. On that day, the ceasefire declared for WW2 Victory Day was formally in effect. -> How he died, during the ceasefire is unclear. Certainly suspicious. Redfern joined a special unit providing support to the Ukrainian army. He was a former pupil at Churston Ferrers Grammar School and joined Torquay Air Cadets at the age of 12 and began service in the British Royal Air Force at the age of 17.

Muslims are not dangerous. We are human beings like everyone else, with families, love, care, and ordinary lives. Our faith teaches compassion, not hatred. Our Prophet taught respect and mercy. Yes, there are a few extremists who distort our religion and bring shame to it, but they do not represent the vast majority of Muslims. So why is it that many still get profiled and treated as suspects? Is it fear, or hate?

🇱🇹🇷🇺Alerte rouge en Lituanie après une menace de drone. Le président et la première ministre ont dû être mis à l'abri carrément et l'aéroport de Vilnius a été fermé. Ce n'est pas normal, des chefs d'État de pays membres de l'OTAN ne devraient jamais avoir à se cacher à cause de menaces de drones. Nous avons été tellement complaisants avec la Russie depuis 2022 que la menace s'est progressivement déplacée de l'Ukraine à l'OTAN. Nous aurions dû dès le début porter un coup d'arrêt très fort à la Russie. L'OTAN est aujourd'hui dans une posture de réaction, elle subit systématiquement les événements. Nous devons retrouver l'initiative et rendre les coups, ne pas engager de riposte permet à la Russie d'aller toujours plus loin dans ses attaques hybrides. Même si le drone s'avère être Ukrainien ou qu'il n'y a pas eu de drone tout court et qu'il s'agissait d'une erreur radar, c'est la Russie qui portera toujours la responsabilité de cette situation. L'Europe entière vivrait en paix si la Russie n'était pas dans une volonté de conflictualité systématique. A chaque drone franchissant une frontière de l'OTAN, nous devrions en envoyer également sur Kaliningrad, Moscou ou St Peterbourg.

A Belarusian volunteer, former political prisoner Tsikhan Kliukach, was killed fighting for Ukraine. He was only 23. After his release from Lukashenka’s prison, Tsikhan chose to defend Ukraine’s freedom against Russian aggression. We will always remember him as a hero.
