I have ordered the flags above the Statehouse lowered to half-staff until sunset on August 31 to honor the victims of the horrific violence at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Peggy and I join with South Carolinians and all those across the country in praying for the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this tragedy.

I was in Spartanburg this morning to announce that we've secured final funding for an armed, certified, full-time school resource officer in every public school, all day, every day. For years, we've worked to provide this protection – and now we have finished the job.

Four years ago, thirteen American service members gave their lives during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. We owe it to them and every warrior who wears the uniform to ensure that something like this never happens again.

Keep your heads up, Irmo. Way to represent South Carolina!! Plenty of bright futures on that team.
