Nobody is arguing against spending what's needed during an emergency. The question is why Ontario continues to budget below what recent fire seasons have required when we know these emergencies are becoming more frequent and more complex. Budgets are about preparedness. Our government has activated Ontario Corps to support communities affected by wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Ontario 211 has increased frontline capacity to help respond to non-urgent wildfire-related inquiries. By calling 2-1-1, Ontarians can connect with trained navigators 24/7 in more than 150 languages to access information, programs and services. Over the past 96 hours, wildland fire crews, pilots, emergency responders, emergency management professionals and Ontario Corps volunteers have worked tirelessly to help keep communities safe. We also thank our Ontario Corps partners; GlobalMedic, Feed Ontario and the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC), for supporting reception centres and helping distribute food to evacuees.

The Ontario @fordnation government budgeted less for wildfire management across the entire province in 2026 ($150M) than it plans to spend on a parking garage in Toronto ($200M). That's it. That's the tweet.

Ontario is expanding access to the Alert Ready system to support emergency response efforts in communities impacted by active wildfires. Municipalities and First Nations can request that urgent emergency messages be sent directly to the public through television, radio and compatible mobile devices to increase public awareness when immediate action is needed to keep residents safe.
