I’m delighted to share that I’ve been granted Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor of Religion at Augustana College @Augustana_IL. I’m most grateful for the love and support of family - my mom and dad, my brother, my two sons, and my daughter. Special thanks to my friends and numerous academic colleagues including our Religion department for their support. I would especially like to thank my Harvard doctoral supervisor Prof Ali Asani for his continuous mentorship and guidance — which started about 15 years ago when he guided me into @HarvardDivinity school after I had left my accounting career. The high number of Generals arrested this month reflects the fact that the security situation has stabilized & new instructions were given. Many of those detained previously settled their status after Assad's fall. Settling status didn't exempt them from accountability for war crimes. More high-profile arrests will follow.

📌 Israel has not calmed down since December 8, 2024, by threatening stability in Syria, destabilizing and targeting military and civilian infrastructure under false arguments.
📌 We want to have a security agreement with Israel, and we also want to have peace, but no normalization. There is a difference between normalization and peace.
📌 Peace is based on the interest of both parties and protects the sovereignty of both parties. We do not want there to be normalization under the use of military force or provocation.
📌 I have engaged in negotiations with American mediation. We hope that these negotiations will lead to a calm and comprehensive agreement that respects the sovereignty of Syria.

@SaransoorSomali @Omarnksa Not true. Plenty of converts would prefer to marry fellow converts but cannot. The women often get snapped up within 2 weeks of their shahādah and the men can’t find anyone. I know one convert brother who looked 15 years for a fellow convert and only found one (she said no).

@Omarnksa Sad stuff. Reverts seem to think they have to adapt a Middle Eastern culture and marry into said culture to be "truly" accepted as a Muslim. Wish that mindset would die.

Regarding questions of representation the only Druze minister has been replaced by a second minister from Halfaya (Hama), while a Deiri now runs Qunaitrah and a Hasakawi runs Deir ez-Zour

#Syria: Kurdish protesters stormed again the entrance of #Hasakah Justice Palace and removed another time the facade sign (which was in Arabic).
Security didn't intervene.
Earlier today, officials were photographed in front of the building where the sign was reinstalled.

Currently, the most violent clashes are ongoing on the frontline northwest of Suweida City near the towns of Walgha and Rimat Hazm.

Druze in Damascus took to the streets to commemorate Suweida massacre that took place a year ago.
Also pro hijri chants are heard, while from what i see Hijri support in Suweyda somewhat liquidated into many druze factions. He remains popular all across Druze community outside Suweida.
No security incidents took place during the events, probably meaning the state somewhat insured its protection. This is a step up compared to the Alawite protests, from some time ago. Time (evening/night) probably also played a role here
