@roamingnoem @BoiiiHog Would you not agree that poultry can react to demand changes quicker by adjusting supply? That helps then stay competitive? Also a more integrated model creates advantages in adjusting to consumer preferences? I agree it's different than fruit. Just saying we have several hurdles

Beef to pork is apples to oranges. If I want an apple but its too expensive I'm not substituting with an orange. However, they are both fruit so an underlying positive price correlation will always be present.

@KINGS1973 That is probably the most compelling argument - how retailers respond to the price ratio to incentive the consumer. I’m sure some are far more experienced than others in how they price items on the shelf

@BoiiiHog There are clearly choices made by retailers in particular to feature either a pork or beef item based the relative pricing. Consumers also make choices about what to buy based perceived value. Anyone who has worked a meat counter has had lots a price value conversations in store
