@FCPerformances I’m so tired of this guy. He’s not even better than Martinelli and the difference we paid was £44million.

Drogon alone tore through a fleet packed with scorpions. Yet in #HOTD, two dragons, one older and larger than Drogon backed by an entire navy struggle against ships armed with less advanced versions of the same weapon. Am I missing something here?

@VictoryOwai The lw market is dead. I actually think Rogers as a priority is the right way to go. Then wait to see.

Watching Noni Madueke against Ghana today felt exactly like watching Bradley Barcola against Iraq yesterday. Same pattern. Get the ball. Drive at the defender. Cut inside or get to the byline. Swing in a cross. Repeat. Lots of running. Lots of carrying. Lots of moments that look exciting on the eye. But when it came to the final third? Very little actual end product. What I find funny is the completely different reactions from some Arsenal fans. Barcola does it yesterday and people are posting clips, calling it an "elite winger performance", talking about how electric he looked and how Arsenal should be all over him. Madueke does virtually the same thing today and suddenly he's "not good enough", "poor decision maker", "all pace no brain", "Chelsea can keep him". So which is it? Because if we're being consistent, both performances were remarkably similar. Neither player dominated the game with goals. Neither player carved teams open with killer passes. Neither player produced numbers that justified the hype being thrown around. The reality is that football discourse has become heavily influenced by narratives. One player is fashionable, the other isn't. One is linked to Arsenal so every touch gets overanalysed positively. The other wears an Arsenal badge so every mistake gets magnified. You don't have to rate Madueke higher than Barcola. That's a fair opinion. But praising one performance while criticising the other when they were basically mirror images of each other just shows that many fans judge the new shinning toys first and the performance second. Consistency shouldn't be this difficult.

@Footballera0 England just has no gliding player; a player who just goes forward and has the natural skill to float between lines and break low blocks like Yamal or Mbappe. Max Dowman please grow faster.

Palmer is not the guy he’s describing. England just have to admit that they don’t have an elite creative 10 like an Olise or Cherki. Wharton or Trent would’ve relieved this to an extent though. Not taking Wharton at all is a huge mistake from Tuchel.
Telegraph Football@TeleFootball

⏱️ @Carra23's half-time verdict: 'When Bellingham and Rice play between the lines against a defence set-up like this, you either need a bit of magic from them outside the box, or the wingers to deliver far more than they are currently doing. 'That’s England’s problem here. The longer this goes on, the more we must look to the bench and ask who can come on and make a difference? 'Rice and Bellingham are all about power and energy; they aren’t magicians in the spaces between the lines. 'If this continues, the debate will start regarding Cole Palmer’s absence. We’ve seen so many games like this in major tournaments. 'Those who championed Palmer’s inclusion foresaw tactical conundrums like this – which is why some of us thought it better to have him as an option.'

If you feel bad for wasting 2 hours of your life suffering through that dismal England game, spare a thought for the people who have just paid more than a grand to suffer through that dismal England game in the stadium.

Modern footballers. Completely incapable of doing anything beyond basic sideways passing. And they’re all worth 100 million apparently. Michael Owen’s words become truer every year.

Barcelona paid 70 million British pounds for Anthony Gordon to do cardio. 9 of his 17 goals last season were penalties & he won’t be taking those anymore, so what more does he really offer? What an extraordinarily laughable deal, taking it back to their Coutinho levels of bad.

The idea of Elliot Anderson as some elite midfielder is slowly fading. The image I had of him in my head has completely disappeared after watching him play alongside actual top-level footballers.

Quick question: What did YOU make of England 0-0 Ghana. Keep it clean, well, you don’t have to…I’ve travelled 3,000 miles for this so if anyone feels like swearing in frustration after being awake for nearly 48 hours…
