@iinternetboii @younger__jeezy @BobbyCastro1994 Ya unfortunately he’s right but I guess she thinks there is an objective truth to one format being better than another. Kinda crazy because the director of the movie disagrees with them. 😂
English

@aktshually @ZachTheRide3D Why? Because the dialogue in those moments isn’t as important as the image and the score to convey the emotions? Not that hard to understand. It’s like movies where character are talking over each other so rapidly you can’t hear exactly what each one is saying and that’s okay
English

@ZachTheRide3D Fair enough, but are you saying that he is intentionally drowning out key dialogue with the score? Because it is certainly happening, the only question is why
English

@JordanHarmon @larrywitness Nolan’s best movie is Dunkirk so I guess I disagree.
English

@larrywitness Person of Interest is amazing and all of Christopher’s best movies are with Jonathan.
English

@JohnnyFocal @bigThrillyStyle @Keran_Smith @mihirmodi Thanks for pushing back against the absolutely idiotic IMAX discourse that’s happening. You are doing the lord’s work 😂
English

@bigThrillyStyle @Keran_Smith @mihirmodi Yes - I think not. The latest trend: if someone disagrees with an argument, they don't rebut it-they just claim it was written by AI. A convenient way to avoid addressing the substance. Complete cobblers.
English

Again, this is somebody spreading misinformation about how IMAX actually works.
You are not “missing information.” IMAX is an immersive format, and the additional image area is there to extend into your peripheral vision and create that immersion. Treating every difference in framing as though essential visual information has been removed completely misunderstands both the purpose of IMAX and how human vision works.
It is not simply about seeing “more picture.” It is about how the image occupies your field of view.
Matt Jarbo@mjarbo
This is why I said IMAX has hit it's ceiling with THE ODYSSEY. Nothing to do with the movie itself, but the format is only truly available in so few locations that if you don't see it in 70mm IMAX, you are literally missing half of the image And Christopher Nolan is entirely okay with this. Crazy
English

@bisson_mark @nightcrawlingxx @TheDoctorDonna2 Yea, I ain’t trusting this dudes opinion on Jack shit. A half star for Backrooms is laughable. The craft is so much better than Obsession. The score alone is better than anything in Obsession
English

@nightcrawlingxx @TheDoctorDonna2 A half star is wild. The set design itself deserves at least 2 stars
English

@Punitwts @DiscussingFilm Yes, A24 has already said they aren’t forcing any creative to use any AI tools if they don’t want to. Kane isn’t going to use them
English

@DiscussingFilm Kane is so incredibly based for this. The youngest director to top the box office, and he’s out here actively fighting to protect human artistry.
English

@elons_lil_dicky @DiscussingFilm what does “A24 couldn’t be more sense about it mean” do you want to try that again?
English

@DiscussingFilm Backrooms is literally a movie about how poisonous AI is. It's a sterile environment that makes bad, hostile copies with extra fingers. Couldn't be more obvious, and A24 couldn't be more sense about it
English

@EscheroOfficial @CultureCrave They have a 12 year track record of backing it up with the movies they have produced, acquired and released. Not sure wtf you are talking about. They won Best Picture for Moonlight… and they backed it up with Kane and will continue to back it up
English

@CultureCrave okay, so can A24 stop using AI to promote its projects then? If they support creatives so much then let’s see them back it up with their actions.
English

A24 says it 'makes no claim of ownership' over the 'Backrooms' concept
“As Kane Parsons has made clear, Backrooms is one part of an infinitely bigger ecosystem, rife with creatives who have every right to tell their own version of the story"
"Yesterday we were made aware of an automated claim submitted to Redbubble on behalf of A24 and 'Backrooms' movie. We immediately began the process to reverse it and reinstate the listings"
"A24 makes no claim of ownership over the yellow wallpaper, the original post referencing it, or any of the community works that have since been built around it. We will continue to support the artists who, like Kane, were inspired by it"

English

@victor_ingrave @pugmane Hahaha, DCP specs and DCI compliance across massive theater chains are intrinsic to the discussion but clearly you aren’t equipped to go there with your limited knowledge. Just keep going on about income inequality and elitism which has nothing to do with the technical reality
English

@Bonzipego @pugmane the point at all.
You don’t know who I am or what I do for a living, go next champ. And learn to have a conversation like an adult.

The Odyssey is a movie where poor people literally see less
English

@EricFrancisco24 The dotted lines on that graphic aren’t even accurate. Man I didn’t think film discourse could get any stupider but here we are. People are complete crybaby idiots. Did nobody watch Ryan Coogler’s video on the Sinners formats?
English

As much as Christopher Nolan obsesses over the tech of filmmaking, his end goal is just to foster immersion. All that extra visual information is just for the illusion in the right theater. I promise you you’re not being deprived if you can’t see Tom Holland’s shoulder.

A film by snobs, for snobs. With only a handful of theaters that can show it properly most regular folks will if they are unwise enough to do so watch a watered down version.
Christopher Nolan Archives@NolanAnalyst
THE ODYSSEY displays 100% of its image in IMAX 1.43:1, compared to 75.3% in Digital IMAX, 73.3% on 1.85:1 screens and just 59.8% in Scope 2.39:1. IMAX 70mm is by far the best way to experience the film.
English

@victor_ingrave @pugmane It’s an infrastructure and technical limitation across the industry as to why 1.43 and even 1.90 isn’t more readily available for people but go on about income and elitism. 🤡
English

@victor_ingrave @pugmane I can assure you that you do not. Can you tell me the two container sizes that 95 percent of DCPs are delivered to commercial theaters chains in to accommodate standardizations for screen sizes?
English

@victor_ingrave @pugmane lol not really dumb dumb, it’s a complete misunderstanding of how screen sizes and film projection works
English

@pugmane He’s absolutely right. Deliberately withholding a film’s original aspect ratio to drive audiences into exclusive theaters is pure elitism. Not everyone lives near a major city, and access to the definitive version of a film shouldn’t depend on your postcode or your income.
English

@theonlyjordan__ @pugmane lol not really dumb dumb, it’s a complete misunderstanding of how screen sizes and film projection works
English

@Jordanuz8a @okitsRGS It is baffling how many idiots on here don’t understand the basics of screen size vs aspect ratio vs container. Odyssey would look awful compressed to the native aspect ratio on 90 percent of commercial movie theater screens
English

have not seen a good answer as to why not just project the movie in a 4:3 ratio in a standard theater
The Cinéprism@TheCineprism
Only 40 cinemas on EARTH could show what NOLAN actually filmed.
English

@KFoodieHTX @fotosbyphreddy @DodgersNation Well the tradition is literally entwined with politics because the White House is the residence of the President of the United States who controls the executive branch of the federal government. Are you being purposefully dumb?
English

@fotosbyphreddy @DodgersNation Alright. Go visit to keep the tradition; leave “problematic” politic talks out.
What’s your issue?
English

Dave Roberts explains the Dodgers decision to visit the White House again this year:
“I hope that we get this invitation every year because that’s the goal, to win a championship.”
“I’m not a politician and I’m doing something teams have done for decades.”
“I’m sure a lot of guys are going to participate.”
English

@GiantHotTakes @FriscoNiner80 Hahahaha wow it’s almost like there are shitty troublemaking fans at Oracle too! Bookmarking this for next time a Giants fan tries to tell everyone about how dangerous the Mexican fans are at Dodger Stadium.
