Divine Council theory really makes sense if you ignore 2000 years of Patristic teaching and decide to go with the six year old podcast instead.

New rule: If you criticize a popular priest, academic theologian, YouTube apologist, balding catechumen, or any mentally handicapped orthobro on X, you are simultaneously criticizing their grace-filled spiritual father AND their bishop AND are subject to CANONICAL PENALTIES!!!

@Nicholai_Korea @EasternMilk Post a link to the catechism if it actually exists. Otherwise treat it as the incomplete work it is and actually listen to real catechisms like St Philaret and St Peter.

@Book_Hawk @EasternMilk Lets focus on issue at hand. You can say what he puts out is wrong (never any specifics with you retards), but this is specifically on atonement. He has said he spoke directly with Met. Saba on this and the new Antiochian synod approved catechism is expressly against you goobers.

Let's use our Orthodox brains for half a second. If Fr Stephen DeYoung is so wrong about so much including being a modernist heretic on the doctrine of the Atonement, then why would his eminence Met Saba not correct him or why would he approve his upcoming debate with James White knowing full well the position he will be arguing for? And the PSA pushers cannot provide proof that their priest or bishops approve of their teaching.

@d_bahler @EasternMilk Why? If I was sucking up to SDY you wouldn’t care. But the second I squint at his heterodoxy you immediately begin demanding credentials as though it matters.

@Nicholai_Korea @EasternMilk You seriously believe with the hundreds of hours of sewage he has put out that your Bishop co-signs everything? He keeps making stuff up and when called out you treat him like he is the Pope instead of accepting he can be wrong.

@Book_Hawk @EasternMilk No...the conservation is about how Fr. SDY has support of not just Met. Saba, but literally every Bishop who has been publicly asked about this or we know their position. Agrees with Fr. SDY. Cross jurisdtional. My Bishop included who is in MP.

@d_bahler @EasternMilk Reheating Heiser, denying the sanctity of Samson, and denying the plurality of readings of what the Word of God is is enough to make him a gasp FALLIBLE MAN instead of the Pope you made him into.

@Nicholai_Korea @EasternMilk I’m suggesting Fr SDY is being treated like an Arius with how many people treat him as their perfect teacher even though he has gross errors.

@d_bahler @EasternMilk It still took years before they realized the depth of his errors. Fr SDY’s excesses will be the same, and we can only hope he can humble himself rather than wielding his PhD as a bludgeon and shield against valid criticism.

Toy Story take: Everyone thinks of the first three movies as “the original trilogy.” But 3 came after the longest gap between sequels, happens post-Disney acquisition, and has a new creative team. In many ways, it’s more of a piece with 4 and 5.

St Nicodemus the Hagiorite refutes the false teaching of Stephen De Young, and states clearly the Orthodox doctrine that the Holy Scriptures are the written Word of God:

Seeing this going around and it's important to say this is simply not true as stated, though the general motivation behind it is a good one. If you just look up "word of God" in Bible Gateway, for example, you can see there are lots of occurrences, and they almost always refer neither to Christ or to Scripture, but specifically to Christ's teaching or the apostles' preaching about Christ. But two pretty clear cases of what he says don't exist in the New Testament are Hebrews 4:12 ("For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.") and Mark 7:13 ("Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”)

@KySquirrel_90 @EasternMilk Generally speaking, if it's in our bookstore I consider it just fine because of all of the reasons previously listed. I firmly believe all associated heirarchs receive advanced copies prior to publishing. Fr SDY rocks. End of story
