There’s a trend with the people who want Slot to stay. They’re all blokes in their 40s/50s who want to hold onto him forever because he won one title, and it’s better than it was 15 years ago. We’re supposed to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Where are your standards?

@SteveMascord The paramount and Amazon is to create some headlines and global tension but its too risky for NRL and DAZN need it more then the other 2

@SteveMascord Wont got Amazon or Paramount. Most likely it stays as is. NRL wont leave DAZN because it would end that business and future competitive tension, Nine and Seven might split some games like Mondays on 7, the rest on 9. Nine would like to put Stan in the picture but unlikely

@eugyppius1 You truly don’t understand why Americans are upset that Spain closed their airspace? Like, really? In no way at all can you see the American perspective on that?

Dear America, I know you feel outrage. I have talked to many of you on the phone. I know your politicians and media are furious. I attended a conference with mostly Americans. The rage and frustration was palpable. The thing is, nobody over here can figure out what you're so pissed off about. Leftoid retards in Spain closed their airspace to you. I'm sorry about that, I wouldn't have done it, but they're totally within their rights. Turkey did the same thing though and you hardly seemed to notice, I guess they're allowed but the Spanish aren't? Happily Ramstein and all the other bases are humming along fine – all these bases that you want to close now, because they are just charity for us Europhags, even though they are your bases to which you demand access, so I guess they're not entirely for us after all. This gets confusing! Anyway, I hope you can calm down and enjoy the Friday holiday. Wars can be frustrating, very nerve-wracking affairs. Please remember to chill, enjoy your cigars and have a scotch. I'm enjoying a stiff glass of Laphroaig right now, really fantastic. Dont me mad bros, Eugy
eugyppius@eugyppius1

Whenever these guys begin a tweet with "Dear Europe," the audience is exclusively Trump-supporting Americans. First noticed this during the Greenland thing.

@Peter_Fitz While Im ok with the changes its a political point that does nothing about the 90% of gambling losses on pokies except help hide it by focusing on a side show issue. Labor run clubs in the act mean pokies are untouchable

@libertarianBenE @Peter_Fitz Even if someone stumped up the money for nuclear which they wont, cheaper power in 15 yrs isnt fixing today's cost of living crisis

@Peter_Fitz The problem isn’t gambling, the growing gambling problem is caused by cost of living. Firstly, let’s deregulate zoning and housing to fix housing/rent prices . Let’s bring in nuclear to have cheaper reliable energy too.

An exquisitely stupid myth: That Australia sat on immense oil riches for decades and nobody in government, business, or finance managed to notice.... until Angus arrived for the great unveiling. My god this is ridiculous.

@SaiKate108 Must be a $$ in it for Angus - has he found oil under one of his properties like he did with the water rights. We have plenty of power here and even if we dig for that oil it wont be much use in 7 yrs it'll take to get it to market at a price more expensive then we are paying now

The Opposition leader Angus Taylor spells it out. ‘We must dig and we must drill. We need more Australian oil for Australians. We have the resources beneath our feet to secure our future.’ The climate scam is done and dusted.

The Prime Minister hijacked every TV and Radio channel in the country last night to say... not a lot. Australia is clearly heading towards fuel rationing if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Why can't the Prime Minister be upfront about that? If we're headed that way, we should start rationing now instead of pretending everything's okay. One Nation has lead the way in this crisis. We've been the first to call for an emergency declaration, fuel excise relief, stopping the road user charge, underwriting supply ships and ditching net-zero. Australia is asking for leadership and a plan - two things Anthony Albanese has failed to deliver.

@Matt_Camenzuli So 193 out of petrol out of 12k petrol stations. 1.6% of petrol stations out of petrol overall isnt really a problem. Admittedly in some specific places it might be.

@KosSamaras The only people to blame are the Australian government for putting Australia in a position where we can’t stand up on our own two feet because we rely on other countries to keep us from falling apart. Covid taught people nothing

Our RedBridge Accent polling on petrol prices tells you everything you need to know about the Trump political risk in Australia. 61% of all voters blame Trump for rising fuel costs. Only 14% blame Albanese. Now add a 100% tariff on Australian pharmaceuticals. hitting our drugmakers harder than almost anyone else on the planet. This is the environment any Australian politician or commentator has to navigate when they’re seen nodding along to MAGA world. An environment where an old ally has created a fuel crisis so significant that people cannot afford to drive to work and one that now treats Australian companies worse than Russia. The One Nation number is the most revealing. Even 39% of One Nation voters blame Trump for petrol prices. These are voters who are culturally sympathetic to the populist right. And still, nearly four in ten point the finger at Washington. Any conservative figure who spent the last year cosying up to Trump’s orbit now has to explain why Australian medicines are being hit at the maximum possible rate while other countries got carve-outs. These conservative figures may have thought that with Trump, they had scored a culture war win. Instead, a cost-of-living liability and a sovereign risk just walked through their front door.
