Use of Ranks by Armed Forces Officers post Retirement: Very recently there was an article all over the print as well as Social Media about Hon'ble High Court of MP passing an Order that an Armed Forces Officer who practices as an Advocate post his Retirement wouldn't be permitted to use his Rank while practicing as an Advocate. It was stated that everyone is equal in front of the Court. I wish to draw the attention of everyone towards Article 18 of the Constitution which clearly permits Armed Forces Officers to hold the rank, even after retirement. It's said that "rank never retires, officer does". Accordingly, I very respectfully disagree with the Orders passed by the Hon'ble High Court of MP in this regard. It would require an amendment to the Constitution in case the right to use the rank by any retired Armed Forces Officer is to be forfeited. Also, when the Doctors, Professors and Retired Justices are permitted to use their titles, why only the Retired Armed Forces Officers be deprived of the rights conferred upon them by the Constitution of India. @adgpi must look into this and task it's JAG Branch to initiate necessary proceedings/actions in this regard to get the said Orders reversed/cancelled. @DefenceMinIndia @HQ_IDS_India

Yesterday’s #SoporeEncounter reminded me of 1993 when Sopore used to be an undeclared “Liberated Zone”where Pakistani flag used to fly till #IndianArmy decided to clear this last thorn in Nov 1993. When we went inside the town at around 2 o’clock in the morning, we were appreciating around 600 to 700 terrorists including foreign mercenaries of Sudan, Afghanistan , Yemen and Pakistan origin hiding inside. We moved inside in a single file to ensure minimal casualties. The terrorists from mosques using loud speakers started abusing us as “ Hindustani Do&s” go back”, etc etc. Number of terrorists came out from narrow by-lanes firing at us in pitched darkness and then hide in houses. It was a war like situation. 8 terrorists were neutralised in firefights. We achieved our aim and established POSTS inside the town and broke the backbone of terrorism in #Sopore #Kashmir that day. My senior subaltern, Brig Tony Lidder, #SenaMedal whom we lost in #HelicopterCrash with #GenBipinRawat got a bullet in his thigh in the firefight. It remains as one of the cleanest #surgicalstrikes without any collateral damage despite totally hostile population. Jai Hind 🇮🇳🫡 #SoporeEncounter #IndianArmy
