Most County Championship wickets, 1960–1969 🏏 The 60s were full of brutal bowling workloads - and Derek Shackleton is the headline. 1,161 wickets in the decade. 87 five-wicket hauls. An economy rate of 1.82. That is ridiculous control. Shackleton was Hampshire’s metronome: relentless accuracy, movement off the seam, and almost no release for batters. Behind him, Don Shepherd passed 1,000 wickets for Glamorgan in the decade - 1,014 at 19.89 - despite famously never playing Test cricket for England. One of the great county-only careers. Then there’s Tom Cartwright, a superb seam-bowling all-rounder with 908 wickets at 17.82, and Fred Titmus, who took 901 wickets with off-spin and lower-order toughness. And the England pace legends were still frightening: Brian Statham took 836 at 16.10, while Fred Trueman claimed 809 at 16.11 with a strike rate of 41.21. A large number of Pakistanis are living illegally in Ireland, and the Irish government is very troubled by this. This time, 24 illegal Pakistanis were caught in Ireland and were being sent back to Pakistan by plane. But Ireland gave those Pakistanis a completely different kind of punishment. On the plane, Ireland served them pork in food and snacks. Ireland did this because eating pork is considered haram for Pakistani Muslims. Ireland taught the Pakistanis a very harsh lesson. Now Pakistani Muslims will think 10 times before entering Ireland illegally.
