@acameron375 @RBKC Is it compliant with fire regs? Loads of charities do free furniture pick up if so.

😱@RBKC have just told me that it will take FOUR WEEKS to arrange a risk assessment before they can agree to take my sofa away. Their operatives stood in my doorway looking at it where it is now stuck. I am in tears again. I can’t afford a private company.

@John_Dabell How wonderful @John_Dabell, I remember you saying you weren’t able to walk her. It’s one of those small returns of the “before” life isn’t it. So pleased for you.

I left Critical Care in November last year and I'm still building back up. I’m now strong enough to take Hetty out for a walk and lift her up (she's quite a lump!)

I’ve been nil by mouth for over three months now, and I won’t dress it up: I don’t dislike it. I hate it. Read more below: johndabell.com/2026/01/31/t...

@KarenLDukes @PeteUK7 Do you work in a hospital Karen? Cos what you’re saying doesn’t tally with any hospital I’ve dealt with. Staff could absolutely look up which ward a patient has been moved to. Why on earth should Pete tie up the main admissions line?

@PeteUK7 Pete, sorry for your angst, but your post reads as if the staff were supposed to put your inability to ring the admissions team to locate your mum as their problem and solve it for you. The NHS is being overwhelmed, patient visitors need to just step up a little.

My mum still in hospital. I have reported on the terrible air quality and lack of respiratory protection but I was unprepared for what happened on tonight's visit. For the 40th time, I visit the ward she's on. As I walk in, nurse says "you know your mum isn't here, right?" 1/🧵

Nil by mouth doesn't mean nil by joy. My wife is baking and I'm deep-breathing the smell of warm chocolate brownies! I know I can't eat any but this is very satisfying. That's my 'hit' for the day and 100% safe!

I made forty-three blankets for my wedding in six days and my fiancé just told me none of the guests will probably keep them because they already have blankets at home. Eight months of planning, ordering yarn in bulk online to save money, every single evening after work crocheting until my fingers went numb, and he drops this bomb during our final walkthrough. “People might just leave them on the chairs, babe.” I wanted to scream. These aren’t just blankets. They’re proof I care. They’re hours of my life I’ll never get back. They’re me trying to make our wedding memorable and meaningful. Now I’m staring at this mountain of teal and navy and green and wondering if I wasted nine months on something people will abandon. Already looking at storage bins online to haul them all back home after the reception. Maybe I’ll sell them in the online store I decided to open after I got a lot of support from other crafters. Maybe I’ll keep them as a reminder that sometimes loving someone means making forty-three blankets they think are pointless. We’re still getting married. I think. Credit - mjcmatthew

@Keir_Starmer But you can’t accurately define a woman. Your daughter will never be safe with you bowing to this madness.

I want my daughter to grow up in a Britain where she feels safe in school, online, and in relationships. Every young girl deserves that, and every young boy should be protected from harmful misogynistic influences. My government is making that happen, by backing teachers, calling out misogyny and intervening early. We can stop harm before it starts and save a generation of young men from the influence of online misogynists.

Violence against women and girls is a national emergency which has been ignored for too long. I said I would roll out specialist rape and sexual offences teams in every police force. Today, we have.

@KatBranSecrets You are not less than a woman. You are every bit as worthy as the next human. You just aren’t a woman, because female isn’t something you can identity into.

People say “trans women aren’t real women,” yet somehow we face the same sexism, judgment, and pressure as every other woman. So tell me again… what exactly makes us “less”?

Some good news! My chest drain was removed this morning! Here's part of what was in my chest. Little wonder I had lots of pain. My lung is still healing, so I still have to keep an eye on things, but it's one less tube. Quality of life has already gone up!

I waited 5 weeks to have a RIG feed. Yesterday it was abandoned mid-procedure. As I went in as an out-patient, I now have to be referred again by my oncologist and I will have to wait weeks again. If I was an in-patient, it would be done today. What a crazy, backwards system.

@John_Dabell Oh @John_Dabell, I am sorry, how frustrating. I am grateful that they didn’t just press ahead if they weren’t sure, there’s wisdom in that. Everything crossed for a speedy plan x

So, I went for my RIG procedure today to insert a tube into my stomach. Unfortunately, the procedure was abandoned as the radiologists were unable to get a clear image of my stomach. It appears my liver has moved & enlarged & is covering the stomach. An op may now be required.

One month ago, I was rushed to hospital. They told me if I didn't get sober, I'd end up dead. "There won't be a next time" the doctor told me. Today, I am one month sober 💜

@Missmbl2812 The fault in your logic is that puberty is not a gender-based experience to be chosen. It is a physiological process based in biological sex.

Puberty blockers facts, since some people keep getting it wrong… Puberty blockers don’t “freeze” anyone forever. They simply pause puberty so young people with gender incongruence have time and proper clinical assessment. If treatment stops, puberty restarts. If they start gender-affirming hormones, they go through the puberty that matches their gender. Full stop. This is standard medical care, and not the horror story or abuse some people like to invent.
