On March 25, The Sameer Project successfully installed 10 fully connected toilets at Al-Amana Camp in Deir al Balah, bringing dignity, safety, and improved living conditions to displaced families. Each unit cost $710. The bathrooms, along with sewage wells, plumbing, labor, piping supplies, and transportation all cost a total of $8,324 after 11% banking commission. This project has significantly improved sanitation standards within the camp and created a safer, healthier environment, particularly for women, children, and the elderly. By providing access to proper sanitation facilities, it helps preserve dignity while also reducing the spread of diseases and epidemics caused by pollution and the lack of suitable toilets. These efforts represents more than infrastructure - it is a meaningful step toward protecting lives and supporting vulnerable communities. One of the largest issues in the Gaza Strip is TRANSPORT!!! HELP: chuffed.org/project/113222… The average waiting time to get transport is around one hour, and it’s even worse in North Gaza where there are barely any cars or buses. The military occupation allows less than 10% of the needed gas, and now imagine that combined with the inflation of gas prices from the Iran war. On top of that, the nimber of vehicles is limited as both were bombed or don’t have repair parts. This means that transport is extremely difficult. Another issue with transport is having enough change. This is a problem that wouldn’t cross our mind but due to the siege and no cash coming in, coins are extremely limited. A common complaint that people tell us about that they can’t secure coins for transport, and drivers won’t accept notes. To help mitigate this issue, The Sameer Project provides daily free transport via bus. One that goes from Gaza City to Jabalia and back, Gaza City to Beit Lahia and back, one across West Gaza, one from Gaza City to the Central area of Gaza (Nuweiri), and one to transport kidney patients to the hospital. The five free buses go back and forth from 8am to 5pm and operate daily. Each bus takes 300 people daily on average (except kidney bus) and costs around $350 per day. Malnutrition is a daily reality for families who cannot access the most basic essentials. That’s why on March 25, The Sameer Project distributed 38 baby formula units and 38 diapers inside Al-Karama Camp, in Al-Bureij by Salah Al-Din.
