Age verification is a Trojan horse for total control over the internet, your devices, and your entire digital life. Not a single child will be protected by this. If people don't wake up and protest, your country is going to be next.

My iPhone just updated itself. I keep turning this off then get endless messages to update it and an irritating red circle on the screen. Now this has appeared. Since when is it law to prove your age to use your own phone???? Way beyond your remit now @GOVUK

android spyware is largely embedded in the google play services sensors, contacts, app info, hardware info, etcetc it collects these with elevated privileges in stock android, it cannot be disabled and telemetry cannot be disabled no matter what you do graphene ships without play services. if you're down for the friction you can direct install some apk's (signal does this), use f-droid for foss apps, and use progressive web apps (pwa's) to fill the gaps if you want play store apps, you can sandbox the play store; giving it the same authority as any other app w tight controls over what it can access and when. apps installed thru sandboxed play store must request permission up the chain: app -> play store -> graphene -> you data flow starts and stops with you. play wants your location? seethe. play wants your hardware ids? mald. play wants your contacts? pound sand. is the pixel-only constraint problematic? is immigration reform on stolen land problematic? yea, it is. you get the cards you get. at least in the former case, graphene & motorola are partnering to further open access to an os that still gives a shit about privacy do not let these ppl black pill you, friend you dont have to live on the backfoot with your data on your device

@JainendraNahata @jtriley2p Get thunderbird for an email client and use fdroid for maps that don't require google. Or, be like me and only enable it when you need audible directions via gmaps

@JainendraNahata @jtriley2p Surprisingly little. There are of course notifications telling you apps need it but these too can be disabled. Personally all my banking apps, despite explicitly saying they need it still function. Core phone functionality is still there. Depends on your tolerance.

The Arch Linux Core Dev Team is asking r/ArchLinux sub-reddit mods to censor people unhappy with Age Verification in Arch. It appears that Arch Linux considers criticism of Age Verification to be a "Code of Conduct" violation. From an r/ArchLinux moderator responding to a censored user: "I got a DM from much higher up the chain asking me to remove it. Whilst I technically don't answer to them, I do respect their wishes. They don't like someone they consider as part of the core dev teams being called out like that. What you did broke the Arch Linux CoC."

@RokoMijic The old world died with WWI in which Britain, due to an unreasonable fear of German hegemony, effectively ended its long-term capabilities to hold the Empire & turned itself into the Americans' lapdog, blowing up old Europe in the process. WWII was merely the final liquidation.

It appears that Brazil is not allowed to download and install Linux through the traditional means anymore. I guess Tor and/or bittorrents will have to be used as governments crack down.
