Burning Banners is a hex-and-counter historical wargame. Except it isn't. It's a fantasy wargame with asymmetric factions, wild card play, and a fully expressed setting. It's also one of my favorite games of 2024. The review: playerelimination.com/2024/08/26/a-b…

We see this all the time with the people we play games with. We have so many friends who aren't interested in "trains" or theme-dry euros without ever considering the gameplay. We try to get them over the hump, but we're vulnerable as well. Some themes just aren't appealing. 🫠
