I recently attended a virtual critical illness survivor support group meeting. If any critical care /adjacent clinicians out there are interested, I'd be happy to connect you, please let me know. I was invited to speak but it was far more valuable to listen.

@laxswamy I had this procedure done by excellent doctors and a terrific nurse at Mercy Hospital in Pgh . While they worked their magic I viewed my Amazon Photos on my Kindle . They were a bit shocked with how calm I was throughout the procedure and with the total 1350cc that was drawn.

The dressing is critical. Use gauze to ensure a clean/dry site before attempting any dressing. A wet dressing is useless, and the dressing is what really holds the tube in place. We secure it to the front for patient comfort & use a few tegaderms to make it as secure as possible.

Looking to produce a booklet for our ICU families to complete on admission about their loved ones. To help us get to know our patients and empower the families. Does anyone have anything similar they could share? @ICUsteps @critcarerecover @icu_pics @RecoveryICU

@edyong209 I have tremendous gratitude for your article on Brain Fog. You should know that it is going to help so many people to have understanding and connection and mainly hope in their journey after trauma. @brains_brawn_MD @tammyeaton17

🧵Some personal news: I’m taking a 6-month sabbatical, starting now. These past 3 years have been the most professionally meaningful of my life, but they’ve also deeply broken me. The pandemic isn’t over, but after a long time spent staring into the sun, I need to blink. 1/

@edyong209 It to an appointment was a great struggle and of course I was unable to eloquently explain why little daily natural tasks in life like bathing dressing coordinating tasks and prioritizing is like climbing a mountain. And I was sure to be taking a nap after my appointment.

I cannot stress this enough: For most people with brain fog, exercise—and strenuous mental activity counts, because cognitive work IS physical work—is a completely inappropriate treatment, and could make them substantially worse. 17/ theatlantic.com/health/archive…

And yet brain-scan studies, blood flow studies, immunological studies, & more all point to physical & chemical changes in the nervous systems of people who have brain fog. It’s a real neurological problem that brings real cognitive impairments. 12/ theatlantic.com/health/archive…
