If Grindlinger is the pick at 14 for the Marlins, why not Trevor Condon? My biggest hesitation with Grindlinger is I genuinely don’t know if teams see him as a pitcher or a hitter — and I’m curious where the Marlins land on that.

@PaulCubbage23 Pipeline is 💩IMO… my main thing with Rose is that I wonder if he's a stock riser for real or not compared to a lot of the sure fire players who have stuck around this long

@BoxtheBase 141 wRC+ and 1.20 BB/K is sweet, the plate discipline and exit velos look good but not crazy. Not on Pipeline’s top 100 currently so can’t say for sure how his defense grades, but he seems to have plus speed

Bit of a surprise with OF Zion Rose from Louisville to the Nats at 11. Rose is a speedy outfielder who almost never strikes out and has solid raw pop, though he’d benefit from pulling the ball in the air more. Not my favorite pick, but if underslot I could see the vision

Esmil Valencia has posted a .588 OPS in 43 ABs since returning from the IL. Was really hoping he’d build on that strong 2nd half last year. Still plenty of season left — just hoping the injury didn’t derail things

Emilio Barreras in the Marlins org is quietly doing things. 19.6% BB, 11.8% K, 89% contact, 165 wRC+. Dude walks twice as much as he Ks. .152 ISO so power is limited but the feel for the zone is rare. Low-A sleeper.

He’s not even trying. If you’re gonna throw meatballs every other pitch, the least you could do is try to control the run game. At least try to be good at something you can control. But nope. It’s just meatball city and smiles after giving up nukes.

@EuryPerezSzn I'll be honest I don’t think most fans can speak to whether he is trying or not because we don’t spend time with them behind the scenes but his horrible body language, which seems to cause a lack of mental composure is really killing him causing him to be step all over

And it’s harder to accept that when he still lets everyone run all over him. He absolutely could do something about that but he refuses to, so he’s making things worse for himself. Which is why it seems like he’s not even trying

@toddvs35 Hard disagree, top prospect or not these players have the hardest path to the highest level MLB compared to any sport, they don’t make the highest level right away and they don't get to decide if they make it, that is in the hands of someone else calling shots

This is probably going to be an unpopular take…
But… seeing a top prospect getting called up in these videos doesn’t really hit. It is meant to happen. He is supposed to get there. It’s his destiny.
