Bought a laptop with a copilot key not knowing that it can't be set to act as CTRL. Workarounds ignore that the hardware actually sends win+shift+f23, taking over the shift button and making shift+ctrl+arrow navigation impossible. Well. NO. MORE. COPILOT. github.com/BoyC/NoMoreCop…

32 bits after 32 years We're incredibly proud to announce that Second Reality has now been finally ported to a modern operating system, and you can watch it tear up your system: no video, no emulation, just code - as it should be. conspiracy.hu/files/w32nd_re… github.com/ConspiracyHu/S…

We improvised a marble elevator with some lego technique and regular legos, for a duplos marble run we had around.

@leonard_coder That’s about the same in both squishy and kkrunchy, they do a bit more to reorganize the data and can’t bruteforce the packing because the size is an order of magnitude larger.

@BoyCcns Awesome demo! btw I'm surprised about the 5.2% taken by exe packer. I would expect this part to be smaller, but maybe I'm biased with 4KiB intro packers

Breakdown of a 64k intro: the contents of Tension (youtube.com/watch?v=48nLso…) look like this after compression. Green is visual data, blue is audio code+data, brown/yellow is engine code and red is the exepacker+stub.

These past couple days the phrase "open source" has been thrown around a lot. I feel this is misleading. Deepseek is as much "open source" as any released binary compiled application is. Open weight, locally executable is not the same thing.

@iquilezles I've yet to see a cmake project build for the first time. Most of the time the cmake step fails outright.

The reason I've never been able to use any open source library is that "you only need python, npm, node, yarn, make, ninja and ssh, but only some pecific versions, and then type these things in the command line like it's still the 90s, only they never work, fuck this shit".

@mikulasflorek That's obvious based on non ortho support I just wonder how they animate that smoothly :)

I researched how popular game engines manage hierarchy with non-uniform scaling on objects. Surprisingly, only Godot handles this correctly, though it results in a 20% larger transform.

@mikulasflorek It's a question because most engines use scale-rotate-translate instead of a full matrix capable of non orthogonal transformations because SRT is a lot easier to animate smoothly.

@BoyCcns I worked correctly in property grid, so there's a chance it works in animations too. But I've not tried.

@marcinignac @conspiracyhu The old codebase was getting rickety. We wanted a better UI and undo for the tool (both of which required a rewrite) and the data driven file format idea described in the linked article required a complete rewrite of the engine as well. After 14 years... It was time.
