Woke up to some incredible news this morning, I am once again the #1 Bracketologist in the world! Huge thank you to @bracketproject for all the time and effort they put in to track this throughout the year, and to each of y’all who have followed along with me on this journey!

Kentucky over Santa Clara in another tourney classic! After the Broncos took a late lead on a Graves 3, Oweh answered for the Wildcats with a DEEP buzzer beating 3 to force OT. UK went on to win in overtime on the back of some clutch blocks by Brandon Garrison. What a game. 🔥

VCU COMES BACK! The 11th seeded Rams storm back from 19 down to knock off 6 seed North Carolina in an overtime classic! Cinderella? Maybe. But VCU is also just a legitimately very good team.

High Point… but they’re Cinderella! The Panthers knock off the Badgers in the first major upset of the tournament! March. 🔥

Ohio State at the buzzer!! Misses a half court shot. But still an awesome game to tip off the tournament.

@DYorkeRP @JonFendler I mean it’s relevant because Gonzaga lost to them instead of blowing them out. Miami (OH) got in because they avoided a bad regular season loss like that, which indeed, is hard to do.

This tweet inspired by all of the "Miami OH is 93rd in KenPom!" tweets I saw. They really weren't. Playing a lot of Q4s drags down the adjEM if you're not consistently blowing them out, which is hard to do in league play. Tossing out the Q4s gives you a more realistic rating.

Less than one hour from the madness! One word of advice, stick with your current bracket. I’m gonna tinker and make like 6 last second changes and they’ll probably all be wrong. Also, root for upsets! Who cares if I have a certain 2 seed in the Final Four, if they’re down to a 15 seed late then go 15 seed.

@JonFendler “Hard to do in league play…” Yeah well good teams do hard stuff. Gonzaga does it every year in a weak league. Florida had a much larger average margin of victory in the SEC than Miami did in the MAC. So did Duke in the ACC. Good teams blow out weaker teams.

High Point is a better team than Miami, scheduled the same way and lost four games. They were never, ever even considered for an at-large. Winning that many games even against bad teams is really really hard to do.

@danafuel Yeah, Vandy shoulda been a 4. Absolutely no issue with Arkansas being ahead of them (just didn’t think they would factor in the Sunday games.) But if they gave the Sunday game equal weighting, then Vandy’s win on Saturday over UF should’ve been enough for them to both be 4s.

@BracketDom I’m still scratching my head about Vandy. I understand the conference tournament doesn’t mean that much unless you win it, but based on merit I don’t understand how Vandy is not at least up on the 4 line. Did the committee simply say their best wins didn’t compare?

@RisersCrypto @CBKReport Haha to be fair all it really shows is that Sunday’s game actually mattered. In past years, the committee has completely ignored games on Selection Sunday. Had I known this committee would buck that trend, I would’ve had the Razorbacks at a 4 easily.

@BracketDom @CBKReport But putting Vandy as the 4 seed instead of Arkansas shows you need to study the SEC a bit better

New and likely final seed list after last night’s and this morning’s title games! Only thing that could likely change would be Wichita State taking USF’s spot as an 11 if they came back. And of course, thanks one more time to @CBKReport for all the awesome graphics this season!

@21KRob Yes! Great stuff by the committee, had I done a “what the bracket should be” projection instead of a “what I think it will be” projection I would’ve scored even higher! That’s never been close to being the case before. Lol

Great projection this year! Only 6 misses of teams swapped by 1 seed, and half of them I could’ve had the other way around too had I known the committee was going to factor in the Friday-Sunday games as much as they did! 🏀Purdue over Michigan State. Clearly the committee credited the Boilermakers for the win over Michigan today, they do have a better resume than the Spartans now with it, so it’s deserved! 🏀Virginia over Nebraska. UVA’s run in the ACC tournament and Nebraska losing back on Friday big to Purdue allowed the Cavs to jump the Cornhuskers. In past years this wouldn’t have been the case. Once again, deserved! 🏀Arkansas over Vandy. Like Purdue, the committee actually factored in today’s win. Absolutely deserved for the Razorbacks! First small gripe though is that if these tourney games meant more this season, then they both should’ve been 4s after Vandy rolled Florida. Bump Bama or Kansas down to a 5 instead. 🏀Villanova over Utah State. UGH. The one change I actually did make based on a weekend game was the one the committee didn’t?! Lol, I had Utah St. below Nova before the Aggies won yesterday. No gripe here though besides general annoyance, since they play each other in the first round anyway. 🏀Missouri over NC State. This is an interesting one. The Tigers got a bye while the Wolfpack are in a play-in game. Very similar resumes, Mizzou though had better top end wins and NC State had a bad loss. This seems to have been enough to make up for the metric gap between the two, which does make sense as resume tends to outweigh metrics closer to the bubble. Not sure I would’ve flipped them around, but it makes complete sense! 🏀Troy over North Dakota State. This is simply a case of rewarding Troy for having good wins. Troy has a Q1 win and 2 Q2 wins! NDSU has no such wins. Outside of those wins Troy’s resume is clearly worse, so I didn’t think they would be enough to swap them, but not mad about it! Mid-majors should absolutely be rewarded for having quality wins.

@801bracketology Great job by the committee taking today’s game into consideration and giving Arkansas a 4. But… I still think Vanderbilt should’ve got a 4 too above Kansas or Bama.

FWIW… I’m glad the committee put Arkansas over Vanderbilt! I was initially correct, Vandy was ahead of them in the initial reveal. Vandy would have been ahead of Arkansas if today’s result had been flipped. I didn’t believe the committee would take today’s result into account. They did. Excellent work by the committee.
